I fix my fps drop: down to a minimum and then increasing to the desired video quality video in the middle of a match (strange and mysterious bug)

The full game is a whole different ball game in optimization apparently. I get worse FPS, it uses more video memory, it doesn't have triple buffering vsync if I wanna go above 60fps, and a whole host of other things were removed. As for your GPU, you should check your nVidia control panel (I don't have optimus on my laptop so I don't know exactly where) and there should be an option there which allows you to force the discrete (or integrated) GPU for specific processes. You should be looking for a process called "titanfall.exe" to force to your discrete GPU. The GTX 570M isn't a particularly strong card by today's standards; being about the strength of a GT 550Ti or so (if I remember correctly), but you shouldn't be getting anywhere near 30fps on low. You should have a constant 60fps if it works right.

Finally, the game has a lot of framedrop issues. A lot of users report this; I am one of the lucky few who do not notice this. I am, however, in a small minority as my video cards have 4GB of VRAM each, which means few others could reciprocate my experience. My friend has an i7-4930K with 16GB DDR3 2133MHz RAM and a GTX 780Ti 3GB card and he gets worse performance at higher settings than I do because he runs out of video RAM, whereas his card is literally 2x one of my cards in strength, and the game only uses 1 card (so I don't benefit from my SLI).

As the person above said, try the titanfall reddit if anything, otherwise I don't know what to tell you. The game needs a patch or two (or five, probably) to really work well it seems. This is a horrifying trend from EA lately. Hell, even the servers are often quite bad and people'll start lagging like crazy. I thought it was my internet as my net's usually quite bad, but I saw streamers experiencing the same thing, and they have far better connections than my backwater-as-hell country will have within the next 10 years.

Well seeing as how the game released in a worse state (optimization-wise) than the beta was, I didn't expect the intel GPUs to be working. I guess you'll just have to wait, man.

Hello. I can see that you've got a nice thread going so I thought I'd chime in. My specs are as follows:

    i5-2500K @4.2 GHz
    8GB 1600C9 dual-channel
    R9 290 (4GB)
    840 Evo 250GB (Rapid enabled)

I didn't play the beta but the release build is a pretty mess of screen-tearing, input lag, stuttering and what not. I'm still trying to figure out how to make it play best before any driver updates/game patches roll out, but so far I haven't had much luck. Best thing I could do is disable v-sync (since there's no triple-buffering option) and tone down the textures to 'High' which seems to get rid of some of the stuttering (in some situations) and decrease the tearing.

Since the OP also has 4GB of VRAM, I wanted to ask whether you experience any more tearing/stuttering at 'Insane' textures compared to 'High'. Also, I'm worried that I'm running out of system memory since the SSD's Rapid mode eats up a whole GB for caching so I'm left with 7GB total on a 4GB video card, 64-bit W8.1 running Titanfall (1080p/4xMSAA). How much RAM do you have? Any other suggestions for reducing tearing and/or stuttering?

I've got 16GB of system RAM, and I do not experience any issues whatsoever at Insane texture resolution. I know it DOES eat up the entire 4GB, but I get 60fps constant with everything maxed. I use 8x CSAA and disable vsync, but of course this limits me to 60 frames. I do not know if my lack of screen tearing is as a result of having a 120Hz monitor running at 120Hz while the game runs at 60, but I can only state my experience. I believe CSAA is an nVidia ability just like FXAA, so I am not sure if that would work/is an option for you.

Also, most games (this one included) rarely pass 2GB of system memory usage; so as long as when launching the game you're not ALREADY using 5GB or more of system RAM, you should be fine.

I will admit I am one of the rarest people who uses the game; as even my friend with a GTX 780Ti was getting odd issues with very high/insane texture resolution.

Thanks for sharing. Since screen-tearing occurs when the frame-rate exceeds the refresh-rate of the monitor, your 120 Hz panel is probably the reason for the lack of tearing. Do you experience any sort of stuttering though?

Although the task manager reports there's available system memory, I fear that Titanfall (with Insane textures) needs more than the 7GB I have available.

Okay, so I launched the game to check for you. I have four screenshots; two at the start of the game (one showing the map, one showing settings) and one later when I'm in a titan and then a final one at the match end to show it hasn't changed the RAM usage. RAM usage stuck to 1.5GB the whole time.
    Match start: https://hostr.co/file/gQEFZck04UOa/Screenshot-947.jpg
    Settings page: https://hostr.co/file/aHSZ7rfWCkLD/Screenshot-948.jpg
    In Titan shot: https://hostr.co/file/hJpOYPGo3043/Screenshot-949.jpg
Match end (had to show off): https://hostr.co/file/iFFdAmUNPBXA/Screenshot-951.jpg

Each shot took up both monitors in one go. My second screen is only 1360 x 768, which is why it looks smaller. The game was in borderless windowed which is why I was able to snap it and the other settings.

Hey, thanks for taking the time; that's very useful information there. I also noticed you're playing in windowed mode, I'll also try that and post the results once I get home.

I play in borderless window; it makes alt-tabbing easier. My Origin in-game has never worked (even across two different PCs and three different OSes) so alt-tabbing to accept invites etc is a must. It makes fullscreen annoying as hell. Windowed mode DECREASES performance in every way shape or form, remember this. Of course, your card is stronger than mine, so you likely would have less of an issue than I would.

Indeed, however, for some strange reason some games appear to benefit from running in windowed mode; something to do withe the renderer or who knows what.

I tried running Titanfall in windowed mode - absolutely no tearing, and, unfortunately, massive stuttering. Unplayable. Presently the OS reports 3.3GB memory in use and 4GB cached with virtually no apps running, usually it's not like that. Just like you said when Titanfall is running it does appear to consume a little system memory. I'll try disabling SSD RAM caching (which shouldn't exceed 1GB anyway) and test again.

At the end of the day it might be an NVIDIA vs. AMD win anyway...

Just thought I'd confirm that Intel is still not working as of launch. Titanfall also still does not default to using any high performance graphics cards if you have an Intel integrated in your system.

Once I switched it over to my GeForce GT550M the game ran perfectly on 'high'. Beautiful.

I am using a gtx 780 and have no problems at all just make sure you are forcing your vsync on your amd or nvidia control panel for titanfall

also if you wish, you can ask me in this thread or just pm me for details on what to do with your pc setup to play titanfall smooth
