I've been getting some results in attrition from focusing more on farming minions.

I'm unsure how safe this style is against better players (360 noob here), but farming is definitely going to be part of the meta.

I want to get a discussion going about farming methods. I'm approaching this from a solo pubber perspective, but compeditive insight would be appreciated.

One lucrative farm situation can be in a titan positioned behind the enemy team. If left uncontested it seems like you can chain the minion spawns there extremely quickly.

Others on here have noticed that if you take out all of the minions from one drop pod more drop pod spawns become very likely. I think this is the mechanic that lets you chain spawns.

There are definitely certain spots where you can get away with this more easily. They tend to be a little out the way.
    For example.
Corporate, behind the glassy building with the cylindrical roof.
Outpost 207, the bridge behind hardpoint B.

I get the feeling that chaining is allowed by a pilot lerking in a nearby building, as Minions dont spawn in enemy controlled areas. It does require some degree of separation from the team, which you have mindfull of, even when playing solo, but its definitely worth your time when there are lulls in the titan fight action.

More generally, if groups of minions respawn based on the last member being killed, then it makes it worth your time to track down lone minions. One small dot on your map, on its own, should be considered a decent priority for helping you and your team's farm. It could unlock the spawn of the next group.

Minions also seem to like to follow the same path away from the same spawn points. Learning these these could help you farm a little quicker or safer.

You can use cluster missle to spawn pop the grunt drop ships. Catch one early to take out most/all of the grunts before they disperse annoyingly. Finish the drop ship and its worth a point too.

What other things do people know to get their minion score up?

Wait until you unlock the Guardian Chip & it makes your Titan so much more effective! Just remember that U HAVE to stay Close as More experienced Pilots see Auto Titan as an Easy by Rodeo! I personally like to use Electric Smoke & Unguided missiles & Guardian Chip in one of my Loadouts coz a Chipped Titan can get A LOT more kills than the Stock/Dumb one

Play some LTS with this kind of strategy/chain of thought.. We need you soldier. There are definitely strategies and next level shit for that mode, and it is quite rewarding when executed.

I'm on 360, and if you put as much thought into LTS as you are showing for attrition then I think you'll make a good teammate.

Try out the game mode and tell me what you think, but you gotta give it a fair chance. Win a match, lose a match and have a close match, so at least 3. Don't tell me you don't like it, if only your team gets stomped or vice versa.

I used to play LTS every opportunity I could get but no games going for anything but attrition now days in my region.

Playing LTS gave me skills to walk over most 360 players in attrition by whoring my titan and taking out all of theirs. Attrition is kinda like LTS in that the team that wins a large titan fight wins many more points over the next period through better farming. LTS is good practice for other game types, and is great fun by its self.

Thats an interesting thought, using guardian chip. You could lead your titan around to the easy outside minion kills, while clearing out minions hiding in building to keep the minion spawns happening.

The one thing I have noticed about minion spawns is that they are basically a bloody big sign letting you know that pilots are also spawning there. I always run minion detector because they are basically a radar for the pilot spawns. In terms of them in game the stryder and chain gun is a bloody good way of racking up the minion kills.

There are some good minion farming videos out there. I posted one on my site. Basically if I'm minion farming I'm going to farm until I get my titan and then just play straight up. Combine the smart pistol and one of these:

If you're using the stryder make sure you have auto eject and cloak on so you don't get killed by enemy titans.

Silenced Carbine, Minion Detector, ARC nades is all you need - in a Titan, chaingun does the job ruthlessly.

Smart Pistol is okay for the sole purpose of farming I guess, but the silenced carbine allows you to wreak havoc, minion spawn farming, with absolutley no compromise if, say, you are encountered by a hostile pilot, which will invariably happen.

There's people that play attrition like they're still in COD, they do nothing but hunt pilots, virtually no time spent killing minions or titans. I heard one of them comment how I only had more points because they were "BS points". They worry about K/D ratio, won't even have a single titan kill. The thing that matters in attrition is attrition points. When your team has 300 points at the end and you scored a third to half of them, your score speaks for itself, don't even have to acknowledge the d-bags.
If you keep shooting full pods, or sliding over them in your Titan, it will drop more. The best I've gotten is 76 in a round, I've gotten over 70 a few times. Could get more with more time and more minions. I wouldn't doubt there's better players that get over 100 minions in a round. I know Demeter and Relic both have areas that I have found where, in your titan, if you get there when pods drop and slide over killing all minions, pods will continue to drop. I almost though I would break my personal best and get 80 on relic the other day doing this, but time ran out and I ended up with 74. My best of 76 was on demeter mostly smart pistol kills. At some points the gun emptied all 12 rounds in like 1 second and the way the controller vibrated was nuts. On relic it's the one path that comes under a bridge loops back a goes back into the ship. Best I can describe it, hope you get the meaning, but on that path I was in my titan and pods kept dropping. There didn't seem to be anyone from the other team around for a few minutes while this was going on, just minions dropping.

P.S. I can't find anywhere in our stats that shows most minions, pilots, titans, killed in one round. Am I missing this or is it not there?

I find that satchels and a fast class are helpful. If you can get up in enemy spawn and stay off the radar...

My latest has been to pair adrenaline transfusion, cloak, powercell, and silenced smart pistol.

This allows you to get to all the minions spawning very quickly, stay cloaked most of the time between each pod with the powercell.. and silenced so the pilot spawning near the pods can't easily find you.

Have to admit that the BIGGEST problem I have when Minion Farming is & I'm pretty sure its NOT just me but sometimes U get too into killing Grunts that when a Pilot comes through a Door U don't seem to lose the Aim Assist on the Grunts & I might be alone in thinking that the Settings should be changed a bit so you Know when a Pilot is in range coz I've lost count at the amount of times I'm farming Grunts & a Pilot just lands right behind me & Pops me! It also helps to use a Height Advantage in this game, but I've noticed a LOT of the CoD players still think its CoD & seem to run along the Ground & NOT really use the Parkour skills that the Game gives us all! So easy to throw Satchel Charges at from Rooftops! I love to Annoy people by Running Dead Mans Hand in Domination games, I try to leave a Stachel in the rooms near the Flags but prefer to use it in the Corner where Campers seem to go to & seen me getting Double & Triple Pilot kills with it! A lot of Criticism that Titanfall has had is that there's not much of a Meta Game as EVERYONE gets a Titan & there's always something to shoot but I don't agree with it as U really have to Kill a Lot of Grunts for the same Time reduction as a Pilot or Titan.

The most I've killed in a single game is 54. I just kill whatever I come across.

Sure, but you comprimise effectiveness for diversity.

As the OP is after Effectivness I had to compromise on diversity when making my suggestions

Also - respectfully, it is illogical to arm the Guardian Chip and use your Titan in auto-mode.

For effective minion farming why would disembark a Titan let alone give up 'Minion Detector'.

    Completely illogical.

If, Titan > Pilot > Spectre > Minion.

Imagine then, Minion Detector with Titan > Minion.

Here are a couple recent attempts to beat my personal best of 76 minions on atritition. Trying for 80. The one with 74 I actually had a bad game, beside getting a lot of minions, I died a lot, and didn't get many pilots or titans. I wish I had thought to take a pic when I got 76, I think my score was 144, I can't find any where in the stats that shows best scores or most minions, most pilots, etc. That is something they should add in TF2 along with customization of weapons, titans, and pilots. Also I would like to be able to go prone position, and I think the icon for your titan when you get seperated should be another color than white, perhaps bright red, so you can see it, lol.
Anyway, kind of getting derailed. I am fairly certain that whenever an enemy titan drops, a pod of minions drops with it somwhere nearby. If you kill those minions, they will be replaced. There are also areas/times on some boards, it seems to me, where minion pods are dropped even if no titans or pilots are dropped or spawned nearby. I especially notice this on Demetur, Colony, and relic

A.C , I'm a little confused, I don't really use the guardian chip, but isn't it FOR auto titans? I thought the guardian chip improved the accuracy and fighting of the unpiloted titan. I could be wrong. I'm not at home so I can't even check the game right now.
