Earlier today, EA listed Titanfall 2 to launch in its fiscal third quarter aka October through December of 2016. As we all saw recently, Battlefield 1 will be releasing on October 21st.. so it doesn't look like Respawn & EA would launch their shooter in the month of October. Instead? I'm pretty confident that we'll see Titanfall 2's release date be revealed at EA Play to fall between November to December. My assumption is they'd target after Call of Duty: Infinite War, but before Thanksgiving/Black Friday. That'll allow them to capitalize on sales before COD (with BF1) & after COD (Titanfall 2), and then have plenty of people pick their games up during the holidays. What do you guys think?
True or not... I'll take any tidbit of info that I can get on T2. Thanks for that juicy morsel @WhoIsDo .
Well, if there is any year to try and beat CoD. This is the year. Super excited for what EA has planned this year!
A little part of me does not want it to go head to head with the likes of CoD and Battlefield as I want it to be a commercial success. On the other hand, go get em son!
Head to head, or apples and oranges. TF1 does what it does the best. If TF2 is even a small improvement, or even the same but different, it will be a success. For those who do not appreciate it for what it is now (do not enjoy that type of play) they will likely never appreciate it nor TF2. The campaign may make a difference initially, but it will be the multiplayer that really sustains it.
Actually EA released a statement about releasing both at the same time. They said because of how different the play styles are of each other, and in turn both probably wont appeal to the same crowd there shouldn't be a problem for sales.
I think that given TF was a critical success I think it'll hold it's own regardless of when they choose to go. Filling in the gaps of the original will give it weight, it is, in effect a brand new game for everyone who was PS4 only and the install base of that game is rather large. It'll do well.
I am going to guess it will release in March again. Fiscal quarter for EA is Sept-December, but it can just mean they are adding the expenses of TF2 in.
Whenever it does get released, it will be ahead of its competition. There are no other games like it. Believe me, I have tried all of them. I am playing a few right now, they simply do not compare with this great game. Can't wait for TF2.
Have EA not defended their stance to shareholders that it will be released along with battlefield 1? BF1 comes out in October.
