In Titanfall 1, you could easily just wait for a timer to tick down if you were having a bad game to earn your titan. Things look to be changing in Titanfall 2 according to Vince Zampella in a recent interview. Here's what he had to say around earning your titan in Titanfall 2: Having played a ton of the game in LA recently, I honestly don't recall much of a change. My assumption is that you have to kill AI/grunts to start the timer, instead of it just starting normally for you. I was too busy killing AI, titans & pilots to really notice the change. However they changed the system, I'm just glad to hear that they're making it a little more difficult to earn your titan.
Might cramp someone's style but I believe that you'll just have to put in the work. Some people may have to alter play styles a bit. Titanfall has evolved so I guess we have to evolve with it. I'm just looking forward to it so that I can have my own opinion. Not that I do not appreciate all the info that's come about... but I just want to have my own hands on experience.
Hmmmm. I am a much better Titan user than a pilot. Seems like I will be punished. Regardless of skill level, TF 1 had something for everyone which made it fun and challenging at all levels. One was never denied major abilities or involvement based on skill levels. This was one of the really unique and brilliant design features. Hopefully denial of Titans or perks ie having to earn them will not limit a players involvement. I was horrible at kill steaks in COD and was always pissed at never getting to be a Juggernaut. Regardless, I will do what is required and enjoy the game even if it kills me ( ha ha).
It was probably always going to be the way. I mean, there are plenty of options for kills for those who can't kill pilots as much. Although it is contrary to their original argument for making sure everyone got one so you didn't have "kill streak" players dominating. I don't think it's going to have a huge impact on most people.
In one of the clips or interviews it mentions warning yourbtitan at least in part by using the grappling hook. If you gain credits by using things I think it is totally ok. It encourages use. If it based on kills predominately the good only get better and the not so good only get worse. But I have faith that it will be fair.
So no server browsers and another "we think we have it fixed for the 1000th time" matchmaking nightmare and now we have to earn our titans? I guess I am glad this comes with a single player because it seems they are going backwards with the exception being graphics. I was not a camper but felt comfortable that if I was having a bad game because I was the lone player on there who was not treating the game as an olympic event and was trying to have fun, that I could count on the titan falling to give me a chance. Seems that is gone too. This game has disaster written all over it.
@RangerIXXI ...great entrance & intro. Welcome to he forum. I also welcome the prediction of a "disaster" that you sound like your about to shell out $60 for. There are plenty of us that play together and have fun. Always better and more fun with friends so feel free to join me...unless your one of those mean people, or your a Master Racer. I'm looking forward to120 days to us getting our hands on the game and finally see for ourselves just what's what. So excited... 2 (at least in my own twisted mind on planet RM0211) 2 Christmases. Traditional Santa Xmas in December and TF2 pre-Christmas right before Halloween. This is for the "haters" that are bound to come. ' ...or are they... already here.
Until we've played the game when it's realised unto the masses, it's kind of strange to say it's a disaster. I've heard little but positive feedback from all those that have been lucky enough to play it so far, but each to his own I guess. What system are you intending to play it on? I'm sure there will be a willing pilot on these forums that can tackle the frontier if you decide to get the game.
The timer was nice in the original because you could plan it out based on time remaining: "dropping my Titan in 3, 2, 1..." Or: "40 seconds left". This also allowed you to camp out the last few seconds and find a safe place to drop your Titan (which I rarely seem to be capable of). In its current form it is arguably too easy to get your Titan based on the amount of time shaved off for certain actions. There have been times where I eject and within seconds of landing have a new Titan and I'm like "wtf???" What worries me about the new system is once titan advantage is gained the opposing team may find it more difficult to shift the game in their favor based on the amount of risk required to get their Titans unless they are playing cloaked and silenced. The old "Rich get Richer" argument. Points of consideration: 1) Titans do not have regenerating shields therefore will be more fragile once broken. 2) How easy is it to earn Titans and what sort of actions will increase the bar. I personally am not a huge fan of kill streak style of games but it can balanced. Either way I am stoked for the new game and will remain neutral until I get my paws on it.
I did not say it is a disaster I said it has disaster written all over it. Did I really have to say POTENTIAL? I could I suppose. I am a PC player and followed the game from when it was being kicked around when they were still employed at IW. My point is that a server browser works for those of us that do not want to have to scrounge around to get a friendly, fun, just looking to mess around type game. The fact that option is and was not available made no sense to me. I love counter strike and the ability to find any particular game I want is great. I do not feel that a general lobby is the same thing as actually picking the game and style I want. I cannot tell you how many times I was ready to walk away before I eventually left when the players on my so called "team' were busy trying to complete challenges and doing their own thing. Yes I am new to the board but felt that I have to earn my titan just makes me glad it has a single player element. The farthest I went on the Leveling system in the first one was 4. The sniper rifle nonsense not counting kills was the deal breaker. I know there are different strokes for different folks and I get all that but at least give us the chance to choose. I do not get that A or B options are somehow choices. Still a bit ticked they want to charge $60 for this and even more for that season pass nonsense after the incomplete mess I bought the first time around. We will see how this goes but pretty graphics are not the dealbreakers for me and does not make me want to fork over money which was why I bought the first one. Thanks for the welcome rainman.
I'm just going to take the plunge and have faith in respawn They may have bundles available along with the micro transactions but that's all for aesthetics. The maps and game mode dlc are all going to be free!! Stick around the community lad. It's a great place to discuss your thoughts and concerns.
Thanks for the invite. I want to take the plunge but I still feel I am somewhat owed a discount or some kind of rebate for getting suckered into the first one. I did not buy the season pass because they had made mention that most of the stuff they promised from the onset would be in the game such as interactive environments and so on. I was wrong. So I bought all three packs and then the matchmaking completely ruined the experience for me. I am not interested in the multiplayer at all especially with the smart pistol and the burn cards and so on. This is why a server browser stands out. Respawn sold out to microsoft and took a bunch of things out of the game in order to make it more console friendly when the game was supposed to be a PC exclusive. That bugs me. Now they want even more money for the game we should of been given in part 1.
Welcome@RamgerIXXI. Lots of good points all around. Like rainman, I cannot wait to see for myself. For sure I am going to have to adapt to the Titans. But there are still 3 Titans we have heard little about and these just might save the day.
Yeah they might but the online mode for me is not what I am actually intrigued with it is the single player. I got my fill of online play with Titanfall one so. I was in a clan that we had a guy who was absolutely unstoppable playing and then we realized he was in another region and his ping was so high he could hit one player and then sit down and eat a meal, come back and hit another before we realized what had happened. When we switched to his server it all changed. He was horrible. The hit registers the long wait times for games. There is a youtube video, I will try and post here about it and cracks me up each time I watch it.
