    howdy,
enjoying the game but matchmaking is kind of killing my desire to play much more.
seems like there isn't a rating or anything evening out the teams that get paired up.

i get the feeling that a lot of matches i'm joining are stacked.
i join as a random, and would prefer playing against other solo players.
there's no indicator showing who's grouped like other games so of course just speculation.

another thing though, prior to release i read some articles saying that matchmaking ratings will be a big factor.
well, as a level 3 i've been paired up against people who are level 20-30.
basically it's not fun playing against people who have unlocked a ton of upgrades for their loadouts EVERY GAME.

did matchmaking ratings go out the window or something?

in overwatch, on my main character i had no problem playing casually and getting to the top 10,000 players as that character.
in battlefield 1 i do quite well as a solo player. but that's probably due to 30 people on each team, it can balance out a lot easier.

    "
Titanfall 2’s matchmaking is based on skill and contribution to matches" - pc gamer article i can't link

basically i don't believe that statement at all, because i'm like level 5 now and still getting paired up against high level players.
getting absolutely stomped overall, but keep getting matched up against people who are clearly better.

    *shrug*

Hi ealot, here is the link you were trying to include:
    http://www.pcgamer.com/titanfall-2s-matchmaking-is-based-on-skill-and-contribution-to-matches/

I'm glad that article also had a link to the one video I wanted to share, because they had claimed to improve matchmaking.

First of all, I take issue that they claim there was even any form of matchmaking in TF1. It was non-existent. That is just a fact and he even admits in this video that you would end up with lopsided matches. Anyone who played TF1 for more than a day has found themselves in extremely lopsided matches, both in numbers and skill levels.

Second, in my opinion, the reason the problem still persists in TF2 is because their definition of matchmaking is not what it really is. In my opinion, they believe matchmaking to you means, "I want to get in the game fast with my friends", which is why they believe they've solved every matchmaking problem imaginable by impementing these glorified Friends Groups called "Networks". True matchmaking has nothing to do with getting in a game fast or being with your friends. True matchmaking is implementing an algorithm to insure even numbers and even skill levels on both sides at all times, AND this should be calculated differently for each mode. Here is my algorithm I've provided to accomplish this:
    http://www.titanfall-community.com/threads/team-balance-matchmaking.2009/#post-46139

Third, what they have done has made things worse in at least 3 different ways:
    1) Even numbers does not mean it has to be a full game. Now, a game won't start unless both teams are full. In TF1, if you had 2 for each side, you could at least start playing. So now that is causing getting into a game to take longer even when you have a larger user base to pull from.
    2) The segregation that "Networks" causes makes the pool of players you are pulling from smaller than it needs to be, because now you are only pulling from your "Network". Also, dividing people up into 6 Factions further segregates each "Network", making it even harder to find the right people for each faction on each side of the game.
    3) Now, there is no continuity in players or chat. At the end of the game, you are all pulled out and thrown back into the big pool with everyone else. One of the beauties of TF1, was even if everyone on both sides were strangers, at least you would probably be competing against (or with, as sides switched between games) the same people for your 1 or 2 hour session. Also, there was continuity in the chat with those people, so you could give atta boys or talk smack between games. That is all gone now.

I have noticed the matchmaking in terms of even teams is much improved. If a player quits another is promptly inserted.
So big thumbs up to Respawn about that.

On the other hand, playing LTS my team and I have been rolling right along virtually unnaposed.
I can count my LTS losses on one hand.
    256 wins.

I know theres other 5 man squads out there... Where they at Respawn.

You're right Battle. The numbers do seem more even and even in the middle of a game, so yes big thumbs up about that. I just don't think it's necessary to have completely full teams before starting a game. I think the whole faction thing makes it take longer and really screws things up especially if the number of players in your region is low. For example, I was trying to get an Amped Hardpoint game and it said there were 12 players in the region, which is all you need and it kept going Finding players 4 of 12, 5 of 12 8 of 12, 10 of 12, Creating Match, then backwards, Finding players 5 of 12, eventually it only put 10 of the 12 in the region in the game I think because of the factions thing. If there are 12 people in the region that want to play Amped Hardpoint, then it should just be like BAM!, DONE! we should be in the game faster than you can snap your fingers. And in TF1 all you needed was 4. If you could put 2 on one side and 2 on the other, we were good and it was off ot the races.

If your teammates are anywhere near as good as you, I think it would be tough to find a match for you. If you have a 5 man squad all of whom are really good, since they aren't giving you a challenge, wouldn't it make more sense for 3 of you to be on one side and 2 on the other? I would think that would be way more fun and challenging. It's probably going to make you get even better too, because if you are just rolling over new players on uncoordinated teams it has to get old pretty quick.

Alot of the guys I play with are better than me.

I got quite a few original TF1 players on my friends list so I can see who all is playing together and this past week theres been all kinds of people partied up, just havent come across them.

We have come across teams but not many that can compete, not many that I recognize from TF1.

Once everyone is genned up I'm sure there will be alot of private matches.

In the latter half of TF1 LTS was a small community full of veterns. The pubs were fun, basically playing the same couple hundred people day in day out.

yea inserting people quickly when someone leaves is nice, but it's kind of expected in any game.

what you describe pretty much cements the guess i had.
basically going up against high level players with lots of unlocks which are also premades.
i've definitely been on either side of that equation in different games.
it's kind of boring to just stomp a team, i really prefer a battle. it's just a game so i'd rather have an intense experience.
    bummer.
none of my friends bought the game and they likely won't.
i've never really had a big interest in finding random groups of people to play regularly with.

oh well. here's hoping they fix it quickly but probably wishful thinking.

Wow! If the guys you play with are even better than you, then I hope I don't ever end up on the other side of that. Yikes! You would just chew me up and spit me out. I always sucked at LTS anyway. Probably my weakest mode. I just don't have the patience for it. I'm not a big fan of round based games, because if you die early, then you just have be a spectator until everyone else finishes the round and in LTS I always die early. :) Since that was the case, I usually adopted a kamikaze strategy that was usually the best way I could help my team. I would rush in the middle of the other team at he start, get them to surround and attack me, nuke eject and hopefully take out 1 or 2, then arc grenade one on the way down and land on him with my Spitfire LMG and hopefully take out a second one, so it would at least leave my team with a 5 on 4 advantage from the start and with some of the 4 damaged from my nuke as well.

Yeah that's where I differ from alot of the gamers these days.
    I preffer round elimination games.

I used to play Rainbow Six and Counter Strike on PC in the late 90's and that kind of gameplay was always my style.
Same with Twisted Metal and Mech Warrior :)

Yeah, I didn't like CS GO for the same reason. Hey, to each his own. Glad you enjoy that style Battle and have plenty of games to play it in.
