A prime titan is a new skin for the model. It'll function in exactly the same way so there's no play advantage, but it'll look different. Purely cosmetic.
I know for a fact that Jay reads the forums, I've played with him and we were talking about it. It may not be specifically these forums but they pay attention.
Good to know. If I was a developer, I would at least be browsing these forums every day. If for no other reason than that there are some really great ideas here from some of the members. I've been so impressed with some of the cool stuff people think of. Just to name a couple of recent ones I can think of: A fairly new member Jasper something had an idea of in Attrition if when you drop into the game you have a group of grunts drop in with you and you can customize them and control them to a certain extent. This was an awesome idea I thought, because it would really add to attrition feeling more like a battlefield. Just thinking about it now, this could even add more of a humanizing effect to the game or personalize it even more, because now you feel more connected to these grunts and you feel more obligated to protect them and it will hurt more if they die. Another member, it may have even been you Ik0n, had what I thought was a brilliant compromise with the whole battery and regenerating shields thing, where you would start with a regenerating shield, but if someone stole your battery now your shields would not regenerate, but if you got a battery back, then you would have regenerating shields again. That is an excellent idea. If the developers are not perusing these forums every day they are really missing out on some gems.
From what I read and heard this is the case - there will be no "purchase" of items that enhance play or give a player and advantage all cosmetic... I have no problem with this model as producing additional revenue is good for Respawn so they can continue to produce.
I have tried to be positive and support TF2, in spite of several misgivings and shortcomings about the game. It was my hope that the DLC would really address some of the concerns expressed on this forum and others. One map! Come on that is an insult to the player community - period! It doesn't appear they have addressed any of the real issues and moved the game to the next level. To say I am disappointed is an understatement, perhaps all has not been revealed - I hope so. I am getting bored with the maps already and when, as happened recently, you play Boomtown four times in a row that really gets tired fast. Respawn, if you are out there, hear our pleas if you want this game to grow and be sustainable. You have made marketing blunder after marketing blunder and now this - I would be looking at replacing whoever is responsible! ...and if EA is driving this dismal start that contract would be the first causality! I go out of my way to not be overly volatile but enough is enough when you turn off those who have supported you with blind loyalty. Rebus (the Pug) says we should watch football today as there is nothing to be excited about in the near future... Just my 2 cents worth...
PAY ATTENTION HERE RESPAWN!!! DARK has been one of the most positive and optimistic members in these forums, even going so far as to discourage negativity and suggesting we move forward. If you are even losing him Respawn, what does that say about you? I agree with you whole heartedly DARK, especially about the 1 map being insulting and not addressing any of the real issues.
I so, so hope they do bring the tf1 maps back at some point. Would be amazing with the new weapons. The more I think about the return of angel city, the more excited I am for it, but equally anxious that it is its full original and not a cut down version. Hi Dawgs, I understand the dissapointment, honestly, sometimes I feel like they've shipped out tf2 post alpha - beta, especially with releasing with so few maps, and unbalanced play. But, I feel/hoping(as an tf optimist) that it is a longer term strategy, continual support, patches free dlc's - even if they trickle maps out - and evolve the game. (Cod dlc's may have 4 maps, but at £15 each?!) Tweaking, nerfing, buffing and balancing. Man, even tf1 had 8 updates (I think) to refine it, and to be honest, as Much as I love tf1, it boiled down to a select few weapons and titan/loadouts in efficiency terms. I'm gonna have to stick with it, and I hope many of you guys do, Respawn definately divide opinion with their decisions. But I'm sure theres a hidden depth like tf1 thats gonna emerge eventually. Rebus sounds like an awesome pug and I repect yours (and his) opinions.
I am not abandoning ship just yet, but it is hard to keep the enthusiasm up (see Winston's quote below). In my opinion this game was rushed out pre-beta and was not fully developed. One can only assume the company responsible for ruining many franchises (EA) is responsible for this. I agree with you and have said so many times before it is a long term strategy, unfortunately they had an opportunity to show a better short term commitment to the community with this first DLC and missed the boat.
This is what I am most concerned about, because if it is a cut down or modified version, that makes this DLC even more underwhelming and is a harbinger of things to come. It would prevent apples to apples comparisons of TF1 to TF2, which I for one really want to see. Plus, it reduces my excitement for any other future TF1 map additions if they are going to be modified versions of the originals. It is the trickling that is insulting. Let's say they give us 1 new map per month for the next 6 months (including the first one, Angel City). After 6 months, we are only at 15, which is what TF1 launched with and those were much bigger and more well designed maps. At the 6 month mark after TF1's launch, it had 24 large, well designed maps, because they put out a DLC every 2 months that had 3 new maps in it. These small, poorly designed maps get old real quick and if there is a smaller number of them, it only accelerates the oldness. Yeah, this is what bothers me, the complete lack of a sense of urgency. Also, something else that bothers me is that they probably spent the bulk of their development time on the DLC putting in a store so that they can sell skins. They knew they were not going to get paid for putting out DLCs, so now they have put this store in for them to make more money. So now please think about this. What do you think they are going to spend more time on in future DLCs? Improving the game and adding functionality to the game? Or, trying to design really cool skins that people are going to pay them money for? That is very disturbing to me, because if this store becomes their major focus, then this game's already dead. We will just have really cool looking titans running around a limited number of small, poorly designed maps in a game that has a lot of issues that players would like to see improved that will never get addressed. When it comes down to how it looks or how it functions, better functionality should always take precedence. I can deal with an ugly looking titan where I can fully customize the loadout that kicks butt. But I don't care how cool it looks if I feel like I am hand cuffed and fighting from inside of a cardboard box.
i hope they add an option to deactivate film grain and i fear most of the best camos and skins will be paid, i hope im wrong, anyway this dlc is going to be great
i know the feeling my friend , am in need of some cheering up , am just going to lay back and look and see what they do next.
