Recently, Respawn Entertainment posted a fairly long letter on the Frontier News Network addressing the future of Titanfall. Since we're all pretty passionate about this game, I wanted to make sure you guys saw it as well as summarizing some of the more important points of the letter.

Future of Titanfall 2 & Franchise Notes
    • Next Frontier News Network drops on March 23rd & it'll give details regarding the March DLC content. Since we're almost at the end of March, you'd have to imagine that the DLC/update drops either late next week or the last week in March.
    • A broader view of how the team will be supporting Titanfall 2 in the upcoming months will be revealed in April
    • The team is aware that they could have done a better job at communicating the breadth of content that they have planned. They're promising to get better at communication, and they'll be bringing more free content to the game soon.
    • There's a free-to-play version of Titanfall heading to Korea, and Respawn has partnered with Nexon on the project
    • New mobile titles set in the world of Titanfall are coming
    • Stig Asmussen's Star Wars game is still coming, but it's wrapped in secrecy & they aren't planning to talk about it for awhile. Doesn't sound like we'll be hearing about it at this year's E3, unfortunately.
    • The team is planning to kick-off a Q&A video series, developer blogs & more in an effort to better communicate with the community. Their goal is to start providing regular content that gives better insight into the people who work at Respawn and the work that they do each do.
I'm also letting you guys know that today I've personally reached out to Jay Frechette, community manager at Respawn, to invite him to join this community. There's a ton of passionate fans here, and this forum is bigger than the game's official forum. I think it'd be great to have Jay here to talk to the community & check on the pulse of the community to see how people feel about certain features, modes, etc.

Titanfall 2 hasn't had quite the start that we'd all hope, but I'm optimistic that Respawn is planning to be more transparent with the community. Crossing my fingers that this leads the game down the path we all want!

I will go out on a limb for the majority and say I think overall we have warmed up to T2 even though it's subpar to the Original.........regardless of the lack of content which is horrible.........
I do believe our biggest gripe is the LACK OF OR SO FEW MAPS. As stated in other threads.......if Respawn were to just give us all the original T1 maps we wouldn't mind waiting for them to create new maps.

Bottom line is the lack of maps is just killing me with boredom....
..and I can't wait any longer...

Appreciate that feedback, @KernelClamjuice. We're all here because we loved (or loved at some point) this franchise, so I'm always here to group all of our constructive criticism for the development team.

Their most recent update gives me some hope, and I have a feeling we'll see this game supported for a pretty good period of time. Having more maps will be great, definitely agree. I'm also hoping we see game modes introduced, or even the return of Frontier Defense (beefed up a bit though).

Thanks WhoIsDo! You are "The Man" brother. Really appreciate you doing that.

I think Kernel pretty much nailed it, because even to my own surprise (as I'm sure it would be to many of you), and even despite the lack of content, I've recently taken a step back and looked at TF2 from a new perspective and there are things I do really appreciate about it, so I would agree that I am even warming up to it, but like everyone else, I just wish there was more.

Besides the maps, and even more importantly than the maps to me right now, would be adding a Titan vs. Titan mode (no pilots, no rounds), just respawn immediately in a new titan and first team to 50 titan kills wins. Not only would that make Mass Effect Andromeda (which I'm getting in 4 days) take a back seat to TF2, but I think it would put the titan back as the centerpiece as it should be in a game called Titanfall. It would be the closest thing to the best mission in the Single Player, "Trial by Fire", where you are fighting along side Sarah in her red titan. Honestly, if it was done right, I think to many people's surprise, it could potentially even become even more popular than Attrition.

The other thing that would make the hugest difference for me is improved situational awareness. In TF1, I could tell when I was being attacked, from which direction, in many cases even with what weapon, and the weapon strength/pilot health ratio allowed you to take a little damage and react and get out of the way and lick your wounds. In TF2, it is just BOOM white shock flash and your dead and you didn't even know you were being attacked. So better situational awareness PLEASE.

And PLEASE get rid of the BOOM white shock flash thing. SO ANNOYING!!!

Hope springs eternal, now lets have less "long letter" and some action. I have stated before that I love the game; unfortunately I am now very bored as there is nothing to accomplish. Recently I made an interesting discovery which in the next few days I will share with you but I think it supports the problem with lack of challenges to go forward and tells me this is purely a time played oriented game!

    More to follow!

PS I like the idea of Titan vs Titan as EN suggests however given the current status of the Titans (can't Regen health) they will not last long unless you are superior, which most of us aren't. I believe they need to re-think the whole Titan program and give us something that is useful!

I agree with you completely DARK. Even preferable to having the Titan vs. Titan mode, I would like the overall titan play improved, because their current state is one of the things that is unappealing to me about the game. I would prefer stronger titans, faster titans, regenerating shields and customizable loadouts.

However, even in this weakened state, I believe a Titan vs. Titan mode would give everyone (and especially newer players) the best opportunity to learn how to have at least some fighting chance in these slow pieces of cardboard. You are right they will not last long unless you are superior, but the beauty is, even if you die 10 times, every time you immediately respawn in a new one and can keep learning, making adjustments and improving. I think it can not be overstated how different this is from anything we have now. If you are a new player, in most modes, you may be lucky to get a titan 2 times. In LTS, if you die quickly, now you have to waste your time waiting until everyone else is done with that round. Titan vs. Titan would be the one place you could go to spend the entire time, no matter how good or bad you are, in a titan trying to get better.

Would I prefer the overall improvement of strength, speed, regenerating shields and custom loadouts? Yes, but until they would do that, I think Titan vs. Titan would be the best thing for the current state of titans. And, no matter what changes they might make in the future, it would also be the best place to get used to those as well. Plus, I just think it would actually be fun, because it would be the closest thing to the "Trial by Fire" mission.

Ha, true words. Their forum layout is terrible. After I made my account I left and hoped to God there was a better option out there...And found this place.

On a somewhat related note... Overwatch's forum sucks also.

Guess what I'm getting at is great work on the forum guys

Yes, WhoIsDo has done an excellent job providing this place for us all to come share, learn, suggest and debate. There are many days where I actually enjoy my time here even more than I enjoy my time in the game, especially on the days where mismatching and cheaters are winning out in the game.

Be interesting to see, OGTF was a game that although it was never huge seemed to maintain a momentum. I always sorta thought that TF2 would be a similar game that would find it's way incrementally. Successful franchises have several iterations prior to going really big, lets see if TF has a similar trajectory.

Yeah, I think if there was ever a TF3 made that was just the right blend of TF1 and TF2 and it was released in a better launch window it might really take off.

What would really help too is this:

They just need to get this done for all games in general. All players from all platforms should be in one user base pool.

Hey DARK, I don't know of an easy way. What I usually do is do a print screen and then open it in Paint, zoom how I want, put a select box around what I want, then copy it and paste that into a message here. Hope that helps.

Hi guys, I'm back after a hiatus from the forums. I've still not caught the TF2 bug, but refuse to uninstall it on the promise I'll get around to playing it. My biggest 'stint' was when the Angel City map came out - the new maps weren't cutting the mustard for me.
I'd still class myself as a Titanfall advocate though. Quite a few of my original Titanfall crew have not bought 2 yet, and I'm trying to get them on board. I'd probably play more if my chums came back to the frontier.
Looking forward to seeing what the future holds though - the lore has great potential, and I might catch you guys out there in the near future!

Yeah, Did it super quick the second time around as well. I was playing so much of the original titanfall is was just stupid, I literally didn't play anything else for around 18 months. I was wholly and solely addicted.

Been awhile since I've played Titnfall. Really sounds like a few game of old skool Titanfall would be a nice stroll down memory lane.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan either for several reasons.
    1) I don't care what my titan looks like. I care that it functions the way I want so that I can express myself the way I want. They removed the customization of the important stuff, the tools you take to battle (primary weapon, ordinance, tactical ablility, etc.) and they replaced all of that with the ability to apply artwork done by a 2 year old on the exterior of your titan, which in many cases resembles vomit.
    2) Even if you are going to allow customization of appearance, do it right or don't do it at all. Allow us to go in ourselves and create our own custom paint job of every square inch of our titan, pilot and weapons. Don't give is pre-packaged garbage, which isn't custom at all, because 1000 people could choose the same thing, so what is custom about that?
    3) This one requires looking back a little bit.
TF1 sold for $60 plus $10 each for each of 3 DLC packages, totalling $90 for those who paid for them all. After the 1 year point, everyone got all of those DLC packages for free if they had not bought them and the price of TF1 had dropped to where you could sometimes get it for $9.99. So, after 1 year, you could get a game that had 24 large, well designed maps and could play Frontier Defense on all 24 and even choose which map to play it on. It had deeply immersive, rich and alive Multiplayer environment. And, again, you could customize the important things on your titan so you could express yourself the way you wanted.
TF2 sold for let's say $65 (some probably bough standard and some bought deluxe). You had "free DLC", which really never came when you look at the finished product after 1 year. So, even after about 15 months, TF2 is still at about $20 for the PC (because I have to equate it to what I paid for TF1), so it is double what you paid for TF1 at this point. And what do you have for that? You have 10 small, choke-pointed maps and 6 TF1 retreads and you can only play Frontier Defense on a handful of the maps and you can't choose which map. The Multiplayer environment is very thin, shallow and does not feel alive. So, TF1 launched with 15 large maps and at the end of all of TF2's supposed "free DLC" you ended up with 16 maps, so the "free DLC" never came and yet they are still charging double for TF2.
Now, I said all of that so that I could say this, because when you add this on top of all of that, it is downright insulting what they are doing. If you go into the store in TF2, they are selling some artwork by 2 year old packages for $24.99 and calling that "On Sale". Think about that. I mean, really. Step back and think about that for a minute. So once past the 1 year point of both games, you could get TF1 (full game and all DLC including 24 maps) for $9.99, which for me has been enough content to keep me playing every day for 4 years. With TF2, you could get the full game and all supposed "free DLC" for $20 (twice the cost), AND they have the nerve to be charging $24.99 for artwork by 2 year olds packages and calling that "On Sale". That is offensive. So, they are valuing a package of artwork by 2 year olds at 2-1/2 times the value of TF1 and all of its DLC. Rediculous!!!

Here's the quote from that article that really ripped my gourd though:
"Despite vastly increasing the number of Titan models available to pilot"

WRONG!!! In TF1, because you could customize the important parts of your titan by choosing (chassis, primary weapon, ordinance, tactical ability and 2 kits), there were 192 different titan models available to a pilot. In TF2, even after all the supposed "free DLC", you have 7. That's right SEVEN!!! So, 192 to 7. This is just some of that warped logic propaganda that gets put out there and repeated over and over again and then people just believe this crap.
