I think game company developers, are always trying to make "improvements" to their game to attract new players. Seems logical to me. More players equals more sales............etc.
However, I think sometimes they stray too far from what made the original game so popular and fun. Even COD MW4 was re-mastered, right? TF2.............3..............should build on the original, maybe add a few things (weapons, attachments, vehicles) but not the actual gameplay. Balance weapons should not mean that a players abilities are downgraded. Or, change the methods of what a game mode is, just to satisfy a few loud players. TF1 changed Hardpoint and it was worse! If you wanted more points for your K/D ratio, then play another mode. TF1 was the first game I had a real way to have fun and be a top scorer because I was rewarded for "Playing the Objective"!!! Not just how many kills I got. Sorry, but that alone made me a TF1 fan for life! I rarely played other game modes because of this. And when they changed this, I saw my skills lowered and my points in game reduced. Sorry for the rant, but I guess I want a "new improved" TF1.............re-mastered..........new weapons, but leave the game play alone. Develop new modes, but include ALL maps and stuff from original as well. Why not?

    :)

I have no blind allegiance to anything. I will wait and see if it is based on TF1, which I would buy, or if it is based more on TF2, which they can keep because TF2 was totally unenjoyable to me.

They absolutely need to do this so that PS4 players who never experienced TF1 can do so and provide well informed feedback after having absorbed both versions.

I can appreciate that you would feel that way and I am sure a lot will feel the same way.

    I just feel differently.

I will be forever grateful and thankful to Respawn for creating TF1 as it was and still is my favorite video of all time.

However, I looked forward to the launch of TF2 like it was going to be Christmas on steroids for me. I shelled out $165 for the Collector's Edition with the helmet. I took vacation days for the Friday release date and the entire following week. What did I get for my trouble? A full force backhand to the face. They might as well just have come right out and said, "Hey if you loved TF1, screw you! We are dumbing the game down for casuals and for COD players who hated TF1 and we are going to try incorporate elements of other types of games with no regard to the uniqueness and identity the first game had." It was one of the worst vacations I ever had, because I had such high expectations and now I was playing a game that was a game I didn't even want to play, but I had taken vacation, so I forced myself to try to like it, but no matter what I did, it still sucked dog doo doo, so I spent most of my vacation commiserating with others on this site rather than playing the stupid game. That is why I have said before that this site has provided me more entertainment value and enjoyment than TF2 has. The helmet has remained locked in a cabinet where I never even look at it, because I don't want to see it.

And, as far as the Single Player Campaign, it was the only part I enjoyed of TF2, but that's just 10 hours. If TF3 has a SPC it is one more reason I would not buy it, because it wastes too much resources that could be spent making the Multiplayer experience richer. The CEO, Vince Zampella has even made that case when TF1 came out. He said that a Single Player Campaign uses 80% of the resources and leaves the Multiplayer being bare bones even though that is where you will spend 100s of hours.

So if we get the Respawn with the correct mindset that made TF1, they are willing to publicly admit they made a lot of mistakes with TF2, they make the right decision and go back to TF1 (titans, pilot/titan balance, situational awareness, mechanics in general) as the base, and they are not going to waste resources on a Single Player Campaign, but instead set out to make the most awesome Multiplayer only game anyone has ever seen, then I am all in and I will stand up and cheer them and defend them to the hilt.

But if they feel TF2 was a good direction to go in and are possibly going to go even further on the casualization of the game and waste resources on a Single Player Campaign, then I'm not wasting my money. One backhand to the face was enough. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. They want me, then they are going to have to win me back and they can start by following the paragraph above this one to the letter.
