I've kind of expected this the past two years, but EA has officially purchased Respawn entertainment. This should lead to more Titanfall entries, but Respawn also stated that they're working on a game set in the Star Wars universe. I'm hoping they're referring to Star Wars 1313, or at least the spiritual successor to that game. What do you guys think? I was just reading this and thought I'd share it here but you beat me to it so I'll just go back and read more.
The game is a joke anyway..... All the fanboys can't deny it now...even the Respawn people saw the writing on the wall..and cut their losses. Adios Titanfall.. If you thought support was bad for the game before....wait another month or two..... What a fucking ripoff this game has been. But I gotsta say it......... I told you so!
This merge saddens me deeply what i think: TF3 with Frostbite Engine, (super extremely powerful pc to run tf3) and tf3 will be a generic FPS just like COD or Battlefield Microtransactions/lootboxes, etc overpriced tiny pieces of DLC's or "Free DLC's" that are tiny pieces of tiny pieces of useless content/cosmetics everything EA touches, ruins it Mass Effect Andromeda is garbage tf2's free dlc disappointment Visceral Games shut down
I R is Sad. Gonna have to try to find a different game to play soon... So far I only like Battlefield and Titanfall...
i expected this , from the moment the launch the game between two AAA titles . and said that this was EA's intentions to buy out respawn... when there stocks are down and the company is cheaper to buy.. i don't think respawn is working on starwars 1313. as viseral games was working on that project until EA shut down the entire studio . reason given they did not like the single player concept and had no multiplayer so they don't see money in it other that initial game sales. go figure a corporate company.
Titanfall 3 on frostbite is not going to feel right, oh I can't wait for it to be riddled with microtransactions
respawn. will now have access to frost bite . they will have practice with it as they are developing a starwars game. they now have more money and tech available to them and more people as developers. when Titanfall 3 is being developed. i am sure we will see a return to the original as how it should have been , and comparing how COD did with going back to it's roots. EA will take create for that.in TF3 now that EA owns the company and the Titanfall brand , they will now spend money via advisement and push the franchise. and it will be in Vince best interest to push the brand even more and he stands to gain as CEO of respawn. TF3 may be out by next year Christmas.. other Dev's in EA will now have an opportunity to work on there version of a titanfall game. once the brand is pushed ....
I probably have a different opinion than most. I am not a big fan of EA, but I was also not a fan of the direction Respawn took TF2 in and make no mistake, those decisions were Respawn's, not EA's. So, if Respawn was moving in that direction, I am glad this happened, because maybe it will slam the brakes on that crap at least. Maybe there will be some re-evaluating of things and possibly some changes of direction. I wasn't going to buy anything if it was like TF2 or even more casualized than that anyway, so at least this might give a chance at something other than that. Without this, its pretty guaranteed that you were going to get something TF2-like or even more casualized. So, using the line from, "Dumb and Dumber", at least with this, "So you're telling me there's a chance." What I don't like about this, is that, even though as I said above that all of the TF2 decisions were Respawn's, now Respawn and all of their apologists are going to claim that all of those horrible decisions were forced on them by EA. That's all we're going to here from the apologists from here to eternity now and they can get that crap out of my face. The poor decisions on TF2 were all Respawn's. Period! Boy do I hope you are right Trini my boy.
yeah i thought the same, maybe this is good, maybe tf3 will be more like tf1, back to the roots, back to the originality time will tell
I cant see it going back to how it was. With the differences between TF1 and 2 it was quite clear the dev's were still trying to find their vision of what Titanfall should be. Now with EA money up in this shit, I think TF3 (if it ever happens) will be different from the previous games.
there is a big chance it will. as no company will buy for that amount of money if they did not see potential in the brand. as Respawn is no different that any other DEV as the only thing they have of value is the Titanfall brand. and a some experence , other than that , what else do they bring to the table other than products /IP of games and concepts that other Dev's can't do themselves. being that the brand is now owned by EA, they can now give it to other internal parts of the company at will , to push , there take like you said of there version of Titanfall. the main part of titanfall is the multiplayer . which has money attached to it. they already confirmed a part 3. now this can change who knows but very unlikely as they made a hefty investment and i don't see how a company will purchase if they did not already had plans for the future.
Large companies will buy out smaller ones just to corner a market. Ie. Crush the competition. Them guys at respawn are quite the developers. Why not buy them out and put them to work on their larger games. This is a win for both the EA team and Respawn in that the Respawn guys will now have less stress and get some days off work. And a win for EA now that they have filled a number of positions with qualified individuals, that they desperately need. I hope it's a win for us, hopefully EA will throw some money their way amd ask them to make TF3, but with they might have other priorities first.
Aw great... now we're gonna have to sit through all of the conjecture. assumptions and the crazy (ala Prez Trump) "fake news" instead of just sitting back and waiting for some words from whoever going to put the game out. Wake me when it's over.
True, respawn are very good at what they do. but not the only skilled dev's out there . and correct company's do buy out others to corner the market . you are quite correct. but at half a billion i don't think so. possible but not at that amount i believe it's more for profit and future potential rather than crushing the competition as Respawn was not there competition but they worked for them. as they are there publishers for both there games , and they have say on the titanfall brand to some extent. and agreed, also as experience Dev's they will be put to make other games , and it is a win win as they have the money and Tech now. we will only know in the near future , hopefully all goes well.
