Hey Respawn, on the off chance that you read this forum and care the way kick and jump kick are implemented are terrible. It makes zero sense that a kick to an armed and armored opponent would be a one shot kill while being shot would not be. The animation for the kick is silly and it is ridiculous that combat has devolved to heavily armed titan pilots jumping around each other like overly caffeinated rabbits. Frankly I would like to see this melee feature disappear altogether but at the very least it should be changed so as not to encourage this lame behavior by being one of the few one shot abilities available to pilots. It has had a serious negative impact upon my enjoyment of the game and while it is possible, I doubt that I am alone.
From one of the dev interviews, apparently they think the jump kick is "Hillarious", so we're stuck with it.
If it makes it more believable, just imagine they have blades that spring out on the soles of their boots... that'd be lethal. Other than that, more luck posting this on the Respawn forums, but welcome all the same
It is annoying when you round a corner and run into someone and they just panic-mash the right stick and get a free kill. I mean, if I reacted first and started SHOOTING them, with BULLETS, why should they be awarded the kill for a KICK? It's nonsense, and it's the stupidest looking thing to see two (presumably) grown men with combat and firearms training and decked out in advanced armor bunny-hopping about each other kicking wildly hoping for the kill. I feel it would be much better balanced if the kick did 50% damage to pilots. The only insta-kill melee should be the neck snap when you melee from behind. The regular kick should however continue to be a one hit kill against grunts and spectres. As it stands, people just run around the map, cloaked, kicking others. It's nonsense.
Yeah it's pretty dumb. I am a huge believer in executions only ( from behind). It makes no sense that a person who is being shot 3-4-5 times could even move forward and kick, stab , or anything else to you.
Same probably in cod and probably any another fps with one hit melee kill. Makes no sense, god awful hitboxes, overpowered. Really hope they remove it asap.
If they remove the jump kick I wouldn't play anymore. The kick is awesome and hilarious. A lot better then your basic knife animation. Plus it adds flavor to the combat, I guess my taste buds are satisfied lol.
Ive just learned to bunny hop backwards while blasting away with my EVA whenever I get in close range. You learn this quickly when you've played FEAR online
I think someone talked about it up higher in the post, but during dev streams they held, someone asked why they added the kick and if there would be any other animations in the game. They basically said they put it in the game because they thought it was hilarious. It's supposed to be silly, and it's supposed to be humorous. Not everything in the game has to be taken seriously.
I'm fine with the animation but they need to make so if I'm like 5 feet away from the guy it doesn't kill me. Hitbox on it is horrible
I just want the melee to go on a long cooldown if they miss. I'm ok with instant melee kills, but button mashing until you get rewarded with a free kill is another story.
A cooldown would be a welcome addition in my eyes. It will make people think before using their kick.
They're using the Force? BREAKING NEWS: Some Pilots have Jedi powers. Yeah hitboxes could do some tweaking, and I wouldn't be against some cooldown on kicking
I haven't really encountered anyone running around invisible just kicking people. If I have seen someone trying that, I'm just going to assume they went like 1 and 15 that match. If I'm using a weapon with no silencer and I'm flanking the enemy, you better believe I'm going to use a silent kill option.
