Hey guys, so I just finished my gen 3 railgun 50 titans challenge...YAY!! And near the end of it I started working on the satchel kills.

I was actually having a hard time with it in Attrition, my usual go to game mode, so I switched to hardpoint. Since then, it has been going great! Moved up from 15 satchel kills and now at 37.

I just spend my time running around between hardpoints with dead mans trigger and throwing satchels on hardpoint consoles. Then run off and move on to the next one. As soon as I hear that my hardpoint is under attack, detonage the satchels and get the kill.

Very effective and will rack you up those satchel kills quickly. I believe my last game I had 9 pilot kills and 7 of them were from doing this...the other team must have been pissed...lol

    Anyways, just a little tip

Maybe it was you I played against yesterday then :) I lost count of how many satchels that I exploded from a disctance with my R-97, but I still died in satchel explosions all the time. My most used phrase that night was probably "o-oh - I missed that one :O" (standing right by a console and seeing the satchel on the other side from where I arrived) right before dying :)

So yes, that IS an effective strategy, and since I am also a G3 I now feel that I might actually be able to finish that challenge, so thanks! :)

I have commented many times on the joy of hurling satchels...please find it. I am glad that so many are discovering the joy of the blackest of arts in video gaming.

I see a lot of complaints about satchels being too effective and what-not, but I don't agree with that. I think they are quite realistic. If you use your eyes you can see them on the ground and blast them, and they are big enough to see in the air if you keep watch over likely places for hurlers to hide.

A satchel expert will kill me each encounter, but so will a shotgun expert, a carbine expert, and so on. I will never become a satchel expert, mainly because it doesn't fit my play style. I will probably end up doing it the way I do now, that is to just toss them and fire them at random and hoping for the occational kill :)

Incidentaly @Sgt_rawk, the quoute in your signature sounds so very familiar, but I cannot quite place it... It is from Full Metal Jacket?

Yes it is. However it is part of the US marines basic training. Here is the full version.

This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.
My rifle, without me, is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will...
My rifle and I know that what counts in this war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, nor the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit...
My rifle is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its barrel. I will keep my rifle clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will...
Before God, I swear this creed. My rifle and I are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life.
So be it, until victory is America's and there is no enemy, but peace!

I used them running and gunning, it was way more fun than strategically placing them. They got me some kills (and triple kills!) that I had no right to get with any other weapon. They got me killed a couple of times... But running up on three enemies and throwing out a panic satchel is well worth the suicide for a triple kill!

But, your tactic is good objective play. Cheap, but effective.

Cool, @Sgt_rawk! I thought they made that up for the movie. I had no idea it was the real thing.

Tsun33, glad you've found just how effective satchels are on Hardpoint at racking up the kills. I wait till the circle starts turning orange on the HUD then lob one into the room, then back up, trigger it and be ready to mop up any survivors with my carbine. Very effective.

That works too, but I prefer the hands off approach in terms of effectiveness. Of course, I am not the type of player to stand back and use cheap maneovers...but for this particular challenge this slightly cheap approach works best.

Placing the satchels on the hardpoint consoles themselves also camouflages them, so thats an added bonus. So yeah rather then running up to a hardpoint and tossing a satchel in as needed when its under attack, Id rather have one in there ahead of time if possible. When you receive the audio prompt that one of your hardpoints that you know you have planted in is under attack, then you detonate!

I'll probably also try this, but I'm still not looking forward to the challenge, as I really don't care to use satchels and will likely stop using them as soon as the challenge is completed.

I use them to go crazy with Titans and players, usually when a pilot gets out of his Titan I toss a few and kill them 1/3 of the time or just plant them on the titans before they get off and then make them explode so that the explosion will cover my escape with all the smoke.

Most of the time lately, I just go suicide with players that I know that are going to kill me. Like, when you and the other pilot are jumping around and you can't get him and he can't get you but he has a shotgun... BOOM.

The only thing I don't like about them is that you only get 2 and I usually need at least 4 or 6 per life.

Aprrently I got the drunk pilot because he either throws these things sideways or straight in the air. Than its a fifty fifty shot to see if I'll be pullin the right trigger or double tapping X because she wants to keep me on my toes. Ya know. Maybe I'll pull out the clicker or maybe I'll pull out the kraber so you shoot and let everyone know where you are. Telling you man. Drunk. Someone see if she can wall run in a straightline. And who do I have to talk to about PWI. ( piloting while intoxicated).

I finished all my Gen 3 challenges before level 50. Here is the BEST way to get satchel kills (imo):
    1.) Capture the Flag
    2.) Infinite Satchel BurnCard
    3.) Hide
4.) Hear your flags gone and BOOM
Class: Dead Mans Trigger, Explosives Pack, and Infinite Satchel Burncard. Enjoy those satchel kills!

I'm at level 42 and 8 satchel kills away from finishing all my gen 3 challenges :)

I have always loved the satchels and they will always be my go to ordonance. This challenge is just an excuse to try techniques to maximize satchel kills!

I will have to try CTF. To be honest, I actually never play that game mode.

You should. Satchels are awesome since
1.) You know EXACTLY where the enemy will walk over
2.) It TELLS you when a enemy walks over.
3.) You get extra points for picking up the flag.
4.) It's legit since you are defending....
