Is there a way to slowplay this game? More strategically, instead of run-jump-and-shoot?

I have been watching the ESLOne Cologne Finals this weekend, Counterstrike:GO, Fnatic v. EnVyUs, and absolutely love how they play. Captain orders, walking patterns on the map layout, having each other's back like in real life battle situations. What is interesting, that game is also played like a run-and-shoot by many, so it's not impossible to achieve it with TF.

Maybe adding the option to turn on No Respawn? That will definitely slow down play, and have everyone think before acting, right?

    What do you think?

I'm in your boat with strategy and a task with self preservation, but many people may be turned off by that because of the Human instinct of "instant gratification"
I would definitely play though...maybe no respawn, and you have to stay in the lobby and watch til the end.

With CS:GO, it's a custom/private match over 30 rounds, switching allegiance halfway, no respawn per round, 2 min max for planting the bomb. Have you seen the vid? It's on youtube, looks absolutely great; molotovs to barricade passages, flashbangs to temp blind the enemy, etc. I think it would be perfect for TF, basically combining realism with a bit of scifi.

If Respawn would add something similar, I would be very happy to buy it :D

There is no slowplaying Titanfall. It's fast-paced and fun. They did have a gametype at one point called Marked for Death Pro... not sure if they still have it in rotation.

The whole appeal to TF, for me, is the pace of the game.

You could always play slower and more strategically I guess. I mean, this might sound like I'm trolling but you can play as fast or as slow as you like.

The question that it sounds like your asking is would it be better to play CS:GO or Titanfall?

Simply turning on no respawn only makes sense in round based games and then only in game that lend themselves to having no respawn like old fashioned SnD. The dudes you are referring too are playing pro level CS, it's a game that by it's nature needs to played that way to survive against opponents that don't miss and the stakes are really high.

Titanfall lives and dies on movement and the necessary use of weapons that comes with such movement. Playing strategically in Titanfall doesn't equate to playing slow necessarily. You wanna see how competitive titanfall is played? Watch this. I'll give you a hint...they ain't moving slow.

Nahhh I don't do those game vs game vs game posts haha ;)

But yes, it's the whole point of my OP, to have a game mode option for strategic play. With no respawn on, you actually have to move careful, you still need to move, but much more careful for enemy pilots, titans, etc. And besides, there are rounds in TF, they're called waves. So that wouldn't be so much different.

The reason I would love this, I like TF because it's scifi, but similar to why I like the tv show Falling Skies, the scifi elements are cool, but the humans are as human as possible. So I like the movement in TF, I just wish the movement of the humans are more human, especially during combat ;)

Anyway, I guess the game is what it is, I just need to continue searching for the 'perfect game' for me, a highly strategic fps with scifi :D

Just because the pace is faster does not mean ANY less strategy, you just need to think faster. Due to the great balance in the game, I've been in many fights that are much more to do with wits than bullets especially in the titans.

Knowing the map intricately, thinking when and where the pilot will pop up so you can aim your gun / lob your grenade etc, and how to use the scenery to out smart a titan and its particular weapon set is all strategy. You can tell the players that are savvy to this too.

What? There are only waves in the gametype Frontier Defense in which you are not VSing other people, you're VSing enemy AI.

I've never had and issues with their servers tbh. Most CoD games (until recently) were so PTP connections which gave way to host advantages and shitty connection. Dedicated are the way forward.

It would be nice to have time to pick up my drink and take a sip without getting "found/killed" in that 10 seconds thats for sure, lol.

Yes there is a slowplay mode. Works best with 2 full teams for the best gameplay results. At the start of the game everyone goes to their favorite camping area on the map and just stay there.
