I don't know what it is exactly, but in TF1 you could at least know where enemies were, tell when you were getting shot at, what direction it was coming from, and have at least a split second to react. With the exception of a neckbreaking execution, which would always scare the crap out of you. In TF2, this is just rediculous. It is like BOOM, white shock flash and you're dead, with almost any weapon, ordinance or titan weapon. You didn't know you were being attacked or where it came from. Like I said, I don't know what it is exactly, but perhaps the pilots need 40-50% more health to have time to react. Perhaps the mini map could be more helpful. You should be able to feel/hear damage coming in and even be able to distinguish what type of weapon it is. Perhaps the devs could take a look at TF1 compared to TF2 and see what made the situational awareness better in TF1. Something has to be done though. It is just rediculous.
I agree, the only two things I have found helpful are "sound whoring" and on the less than useful minimap those "cones" of red at least give you some idea where shooters are in a general way. When I hear some shots I look at it and at least I have an idea where an enemy may be and prepare for an attack or shot from that direction - not near perfect but at least some help.
I am so glad you started this thread!! I feel the same and just thought it was just me. As Dark Bawgs said I think the sound is helpful but the game overall feels very chaotic and at times I am finding it very hard to keep up.
I'm sad to say I haven't played for days because I have become extremely frustrated. Every game the winning team has double the points and it just feels like a massacre. Hoping the flood of new players for Christmas will even out the field a bit. All these youtube videos of player loadouts and how to videos are not helping. They are taking players to a whole new level of decimation. I really want to still love Titanfall but I am finding it very hard right now.
I hear you, I have stopped playing on Xbox for now and am working solely on PS4 to get to Gen 10. I now play almost exclusively Ampted Hardpoint as it seems the most balanced game. It is amazing to me how many players only run in to get the HP then take off before it is ampted, then they run around trying to get kills. I just work the Points stay til they are ampted and I am doing OK. Right now on PS4 I am 75% of the time in the top three and 33% the MVP - for me I am very satisfied given my limited gun fighting skills. Often I have between 0 and 2 kills but still do well to help my team. I wasn't doing quite so well on the Xbox but I think that is because there are more players on PS4 that are new to the game so not that many hard core TF1 players, although it is getting better and often find I am against "teams" which makes doing anything tough to say the least... You are a pretty good player so I would think you will do very well in the long term...
Good perspective as always Mr Bawgs! I have also been trying to play more hardpoint as it is much more enjoyable for me then the slaughter attrition has turned into. I have just completely changed my loadout, playing with a different titan and faction as well - I am hoping this will spice it up enough for me to make it enjoyable again. It also was the players I was playing with I think. You feel a lot worse about your game when everyone is pointing out your mishaps!
If you recall, we discussed not using cloak since the Nerf. I have gone back to it since it is great when you are on a HP and want to Amp it. When I see the message "Contested" (if that stupid "titan is ready" doesn't block it) I hit "cloak' and wait in ambush for the enemy, more times than not I get a kill and continue amping.
I'm fine with the TTK where it is at the moment. Problem is with simply raising the pilot health is all weapons will need re-balancing, which in itself will cause more issues. Titanfall is not a game for long drawn out gunfights, all this will lead to is other members of the enemy team flanking you easier. I'd really like to see the original mini map return, the dots on the map will make a lot of difference to TF2, in my opinion.
yes, exactly, whe using the titan you can see where the shoots come from but as a pilot, it's just, white shcok flash and suddenly youre dead, wtf, no time to react, unless the enemy is right in front of you and yu see him shooting at you, but if it's not the case, it's all of sudden and gets frustrating if everything is so fast wit no tim to react
Totally agree with all of this. I dont mind the TTK either. With the grappling hook and some creativity I feel i can escape death when fired upon first often enough. The real key is constantly keeping an eye on the map and where your mates are so you can estimate where you are weak visually. based on the direction of everyone and where the current spawn direction is I find you can mitigate getting jumped. I also play only play objective based gamemodes so you know where the choke points are going to be. I agree Attrition is a shitshow.
Attrition is crazy, but at least on PC there are no players in any other game! If i want to get a match in under 3-4 minutes, I'm stuck with attrition.
Thanks Mecha! It is defintely not just you. Same here. Good advice DARK! At least for those not on PC. More good advice DARK, and yes Ugghh!!! that message blocking "Contested" is so frustrating. Exactly! That white shock flash thing has go to go. Yes, us PC players have problems console players won't experience until months down the road when the user base drops off.
