First, it's great to join the TFC. Before you all jump in and thank me for boosting your statistical count for pilot executions and titan road kills I need to thank you all first. My son, as most 16 year olds, has been a gamer for many years. When he comes and visits he brings his Xbox and he plays games with his friends back home. This past New Years he was out visiting us from Texas. We had just gotten his step sister an Xbox one (when I say step sister, you are correct it's really mine and I just let her use it. She just unwrapped it.) for Christmas. I talked him into setting up a weekly game with his dad (his friends join us too). A great way for us to spend a bit of time together between the visits and have some fun. The question was what game do we play. My FPS started with Asteroids and ended with Duck Hunt (Okay, I played a bit of Halo, the first one). The thought of playing a game he already was good at was not going to work as I do have some pride and can't embarrass the boy in front of his friends. So we needed to agree on a game that interested both of us and gave me a fair chance. Even if that equal status lasted about 5 minutes until he took the controller to give it a try. In any case, I did some research on a few titles we tossed around and found the TFC web site. I read the threads reviewing the release, the game play to get a general opinion about the game. I found the comments incredibly helpful in our selection of TF2. The pros and cons, the debates and the opportunities for improvement were well thought out and objectively debated. The members had fair criticism, expectations and hope. Some TF1 players are a bit frustrated but overall a positive attitude. Not to mention all of the threads on tips, load outs and so on (everything a dad needs to get a slight advantage of his son). So we selected TF2 based on the members of TFC threads. So thank you to all those that are posting and providing original content or links to topic appropriate content. My son and I are having a blast. I'm not a FPS fan nor the hack and slash type gamer. But this is fun. There is enough strategic/ tactical play to keep a prior service military guy amused while at the same time the statistical improvement aspect keeps me engaged and driving to move forward. That is the second reason I joined the TFC. I have not played TF1 and dare not as I can't afford a distraction from my TF2 mission. But as I had only a realistic expectation projected by this group with no paradigm of what the game play experience would be like TF2 is a great game. Ignorance is bliss sometimes. So a final Thank you to TFC and it's members. You are welcome to join us on Sundays 4 EST/ 1 PST. Of course he sometimes needs me to move the time up earlier in the day so he can have a real life. So as not to be rude, I would have to stay on for a few more hours as I wouldn't want to leave you all hanging. I don't want to play a few more hours but its a must do for the team. My wife will understand. Triggerman 6x Gen 2 Xbox one standard controller w/ bumper jumper pilot (TFC thread thanks for that) Bunny Hopper (but think a fast snail that is confused about where its going) Phase Shift (also from a thread) Arc Grenades (also from a thread) Spitfire (because I suck at aiming and panic before you kill me so I need the two/three hit power to fight back) MGL (I'm quite good at using this; hit and move baby, hit and move..) Tone (My equalizer to being a pilot. The only way for me to be truly competitive...for now.)
Welcome aboard pilots (to you and your son). I know you just got TF2 and that will keep you occupied for quite awhile, but if you ever are looking for something in the future, I would highly recommend TF1, because it is the best video game ever made and far superior to TF2 and you can probably get it for somewhere between $10 and $20. Even though the user base is small after 2 years and 10 months, you can still get a game of Attrition any time of day and a game of Campaign any time of day as long as you are willing to switch servers.
How's it going man? Welcome to the community! Awesome intro post and I'd love to hop in some games with you as well man, my GT is Ik0n88x.
Thats a good deal and good for the Xbox 1 for strengthening the family ties. Welcome to the community @Triggerman 6 .
