Yes, I would imagine players like gamesager are a lot more common on PC. Yes it is a case by case individual thing but in my anecdotal observation console players are more casual on the whole. The nature of a console is more casual. You buy one system and all games for that system are compatible for the life of the console. There are no sound cards, video cards to upgrade, no settings to adjust. Heck even the small computer monitors a better choice for gaming than the 60 inch flat screen TVs hanging on the wall on their living room most console players use. Most console players didn't even know there is a lag due to using an LCD screen...And that's without factoring in connection lag and clunkyness of a controller.

Yes, there are some really good console players and there are some really bad PC players. I just think the average PC player is better than the average console player due to the hardware itself and the commitment it takes to get into PC gaming to begin with (how much would a good gaming rig set you back). I'm a life long console player but that stuff is easy mode by comparison, it's why I have one. Plug in and play.

I never rage quit but a lot of people do and it's a problem. If they add PC players to the network I'll be surprised if anyone can make it through a match with the same team they started with due to poor sports unable to deal with skill gap.

Right now players like gamesager are a big fish in a little pond. In the PC world he would be one of many.

Also, as far as cheating is concerned. Prevention is easier said than done. I'm sure all the cheating on PC, in just about every game, is very difficult to mitigate otherwise they would have done so. I guess what I'm getting at is preventing all the PC hacks is not from lack of trying.

Maybe I'm just being a glass half empty kinda guy but I don't see how it can be controlled.

This is not a problem that would be created by merging the user bases. This problem existed in TF1 as well. There are 2 causes for this which are poor matchmaking and allowing cheaters. If you put in rock solid matchmaking, this would keep the teams even on both sides (numbers and skill-wise) even when the user bases have been merged.

With regard to cheating, I absolutely disagree with your premise. It is easy to do if you use the right tools. It is not difficult to mitigate using those tools, but you have to have the desire to do so. Therefore, their lack of preventing all the PC hacks is from lack of trying. When you have an example as set forth by Blizzard in their Overwatch game and you do not purchase the rights to use that, have them do it for you, or create something similar on your own, that is by choice and shows blatant disrespect for the PC community. This issue can be resolved and it ABSOLUTELY should be. The PC community deserves nothing less.

Maybe it's just the pessimist in me but I really don't think game designers, for the most part, neglect to deal with poor match making or cheating due to laziness or lack of trying. I think it's very time consuming and difficult to come up with algorithms that will predict someone's potential skill level and then predict the skill of nine other people and pair them together.

You mentioned Blizzard. That is one of the largest and well funded developers in the industry. Very few companies have that capability nor the resources to outsource that project. If it were easily obtainable I'm sure more would do so.

If connection and cheating problems were isolated just to Titanfall I would say its a respawn specific issue but it's rampant across the board. Even a relatively successful company like Bungie can't quite get it under control. It's a complex issue.

Villain, I agree wholeheartedly with your posts. I would love nothing more than to pay accross platforms with my bother-in-law (On PC) and my nephew (on Xb) and me on PS4.

I left PC's for two reasons, first was the hacks and cheats it just got unbearable and second was trying to keep up with all the "upgrades" necessary to be competitive. I don't think we will see cross platform play in my lifetime. Perhaps if Sony and Microsoft could come together then we would see XB and PS4 but not likely to happen anytime soon; just too much money involved and too much corporate greed!

I think that's what people are missing. The most current PC gaming configuration is probably already ahead of the highest end Xbox/PS4. PC continuously evolves which gives it a continuous advantage if you care to keep up with it. The same goes for it's equipment which is much more customizable than consoles will ever be. Heck, you can't even get a wireless controller unless it's sold by Microsoft and you can't use a non Xbox controller at all unless you have third party accessories to circumvent it's programming.

Here's the other side of the coin also. A lot of PC played don't want the merge to happen either because they don't want dumb downed versions of the graphics just to be compatible with consoles. That's just a lot to balance.

I do think it would be possible for Xbox and PS4 to merge as long as they can hammer out the business side and they continue to evolve at the same rate.

Unfortunately I think PC is too different of a beast to be able to play with the other kids.

So just out of curiosity, wouldn't the problems of cheating/hacking come along with the pc player base. Just asking.

Yea, that's how I would think it would go. I don't know how merging the player base would prevent them from using bots and hacks if they already have them. Like ensc said there are ways to stop cheaters in theory but I don't think it's easy. I haven't seen a PC system yet that a determined hacker can't get into. They could probably get into a PS4,/,Xbox but it doesn't lend itself to those types of things easily. You basically have to write code to even gain access to a consoles debug mode. That's a lot of work I would guess.
