I had just been commenting in another thread about how I do not believe you will ever be able to sell enough pre-made cosmetics in order to fund the creation of other quality content in games. I also put forward that I don't believe that purchasing pre-made cosmetics should be the goal at all, but rather creating an in-game area where a user could spend hours customizing every square inch of the paint jobs on their characters, vehicles or weapons. I also suggested that this could almost be like a therapeutic game within a game, where when you are frustrated with the actual game, you could go spend a couple of hours designing a new custom paint job for your character and feel better afterwards.

I really got to thinking about this though and I believe there would be a way to leverage this that could actually change and revolutionize the whole gaming industry in general. It would actually serve many purposes, which would be:
    1) Better quality paint jobs.
    2) Better quality and quantity of game content.
    3) Side income for gamers.
    4) Additional revenue for game publishers/developers.

    So, how would this work?
    1) A game would need to include an area that allows a user to customize every square inch of the paint jobs on their characters, vehicles or weapons.
    2) A game would have to have a store where a user could then offer their custom paint jobs for sale to everyone and even allow them to set the price.
    3) Whatever the price, when a paint job is sold, the user gets to keep 50% of that money and the other 50% goes to the publisher/developer to be used to finance DLC content.
    4) The store could even have a request area, where users could submit requests of what they would like. For example, maybe someone would like a Darth Vader zombie paint job. Then, perhaps multiple people might create things to try to meet that request and now, not only the requester would have access to purchase any or all of those, but so would the rest of the community at large.

oh, really? well, that's pretty cool. I didn't know that. I haven't played any of those games since Need For Speed Underground back in like 2004 or 2005. Man I loved that game. I can remember many days playing that game while drinking a mixture of half Starbucks Mocha Frappucino and half Yoo Hoo Double Fudge while listening to this:

    Good times :)

they have a very extensive custom area.
and from what i played last on the ps4.
the community can create custom skins for cars, which can be applied and posted in game, i believe you can trade and sell for in game currency , not sure about real money. also can be posted for all to download and apply.
