I'd rather not sugarcoat it here folks. Titanfall 2 is kinda dead. I tried to get back into playing it recently and I couldn't find one game. Not for Attrition nor even for Frontier Defence. Of course this could just be very well the London servers since I live in the UK and maybe people in the U.S. might have much better luck but Titanfall 2's population in general is depressingly low.

But there is a silver lining here. If my math is correct, if my sources are to be believed and if the star's are aligned correctly we will definitely be looking at information to do with Titanfall 3 at some point later this year. Hopefully we'll be looking at an E3 announcement.

But we're not talking about that. What we're talking about here is the possibility that the Titanfall 2 population might spark up one last time at some point right before and after Titanfall 3 is announced. People might come back to play it for nostalgia's sake, to ready themselves for what's to come or even to find out what Titanfall 2 was like in the first place.

I'm not gonna claim to be an expert at predicting the intention of a whole community but we could and probably should take advantage of this if it actually happens.

    And let's hope it does.

Yeah, its possible. Especially with EA being at the wheel now, I would expect them to want to push out another release even sooner than Respawn would if they were still on their own and even when Respawn was on their own, it was at around the 2 years and 2 months mark where they announced TF2, so keeping that same timeframe would put it around December 2018 for the announcement. Like I said though, I could see that timeline being speeded up under EA, so I wouldn't be surprised if they announced something in June 2018 with plans for it it to come out some time between December 2018 and March 2019. An announcement probably would breathe a little life back into the TF2 user base.

Titanfall 2 is not dead. It is still an awesome game that I am totally addicted to. The freedom of movement and infinity of combinations of things to do and try and a list of never ending skills to learn propel me. There are complaints eg, the lack of maps, but even still, I focus on the learning curve which is never ending. I very much look forward to TF 3 and just hope that they do not go off the wall with major nonsensical changes for the sake of change. Hopefully they will let us modify or customize our titans a bit more and PLEASE quit nerfing guns and action to accommodate those who do not want to put the time in to learn how to take advantage of the capabilities.

I don't think the population is going to increase.

Titanfall is a niche game. There might be a slight uptick when Titanfall 3 is announced but definitely not anything substantial. I also wouldn't expect any information about Titanfall 3 until E3 of next year.

TF1 was HUGE just before TF2 was launched. I was rolling with a full squad the day before tf2 launch, many people were on. Then midnight, day of launch, servers came online for tf2 and we played all night and into the day! Between tf1 and tf2 I has 26hrs online straight! 99% win avg!

    "Clearly Canadian"?

    Uhh... I'm Scottish.

Don't worry though, Canadian's and Brit's have pretty deep historical heritage with each other so you're not exactly wrong.

Xbone was close to 10000 players nights and weekends for 1-2 weeks after Xmas. Last night 7500, so it has faired better population-wise that TF1 at this point as far as I can remember. Seems to me that TF1 hovered around 3000 at peak times once it was over a year old. Would the spike in players right after Xmas indicate new players that just got the game even though it's over a year old or was it just the young guns home for vacation?

    Hi Battle,
Canuckistanian....love it. I have been looking for this handle for a long time. I am proud to say that I live in Canuckistan and we actually have the best potassium in the world. I dare anyone to challenge me on that.

Late to the discussion, but I've been playing nearly nightly for quite some time, and I am still able to quickly get into my mix tape (Attrition, AHP, BH, LTS, TB) with minimal delays. I'm on 9pm-ish US Pacific.

The online player count is dwindling yes, but nothing less expected given how long it's been out. Same as on BF1. And you're real lucky if you get into a match on Infinite Warfare. The only thing that is games non stop is WW2 at the moment lol, so it's a good fall back I do love WW2.

I'm getting into matches no problems after work & night hours Aus servers, but during the day if I need a hit it's onto the US ones. I'd be interested to know what the PS4 count is? I should have installed it on the PS4 too back in the day!!

I think you just have to time it, I'm always going on about 10:30 - 12:00 NZ time (Aus servers) and getting CTF match one after the other. Then it goes dead, and I wait for the Aus servers to kick up with all the after schools and finished work pilots coming online.

If ping and latency wasn't so crap cross continent I'd love to play with or against some of you guys, no such luck for us way down here in NZ though lol.

Sad, but the way it goes I suppose.

    See you out there.

I just spent the last week teaching my nephew and his kids TF2. The ages range from 5 to 44 years old. It was easier for the kids to catch on than the adults. But of course their goals and expectations are totally different. The 44 year old was completely frustrated. I hope that the game is not completely nerfed down to attract more casual players who want to master a game in an hour. This now is my biggest fear. They possibly could spend some time on a little better training session for the complete newbie.

I started playing TF1 three years ago at age 51 and "frustrated" is the lightest term you could use. Terms I use aren't permitted here under the site's usage terms... :p

Tell your nephew to keep an open mind and persist with it for a bit. It took me a lot of time to get past the frustration/rage quit stage, but I've gotten to the point where I really love playing TF2 as a bit of relaxation.

I wrote a series of posts on my blog talking about how I got successful at TF2. There are very specific tips in there which may or may not be useful to him. I can't post URLs here (too new, still, I guess), so ping me via PM if you're interested and I'll share it with you.
