Would like to see a 10 to 15% nerf on player speed. Just as an experiment in PVP to see how the game would change. I feel alike a lot of classic FPS strategy is completely nullified by the hyper speed of this game. Sorry but lets face it. Player speed is to compensate for the OP titans in the game, otherwise its just stupid fast and kinda makes PVP somewhat random

Secondly, I hate that being good at melee is super important. I'm an FPS purest and melee should not be a first class citizen in this game, but its a border line short range autoaim weapon, way too op.

Third. I would like to see momentum conserved with shots. e.g. bullets can push players a little... or maybe a lot. I really hate the flying knee to my face when I just shot a dude 4 times with my RC97 and he still ran thru bullets.

    Other thoughts, agree / disagree?

OK (assuming you are referring to TF2), I need to break this in pieces, because it is a little complicated and not just black and white.

    player speed:
-I don't want to be a hypocrite, so I have to maintain that I still think pilot ground speed should be increased, or at least where you don't lose your momentum when coming off of a wall
-however, even though I had argued during the tech test that all speeds needed to be increased and they did for everything except the ground speed, I do feel that something is a little fast at times and perhaps it is just the players using Stim, because I know the Stim is jacked up way faster than it was in TF1. So, bottom line, I guess I would like to see how things were if they reduced the Stim speed to what it was in TF1.
-another however, I would not want the Stim changed for the same reason as you, because I do not like classic FPS games, which is why I loved TF1. I feel like so much was already changed in TF2 to allow way to much classic FPS strategy and I would like all of those changes to be extracted. I just wouldn't mind seeing the Stim speed reduced, because it is almost cartoony fast.
    titans:
-I disagree that the titans are OP. I actually feel the opposite. I feel like it is fighting from inside of a slow, weak, clunky cardboard box with no regenerating shields.

Totally agree with you here. It is an FPS game, not a FPM game. I would actually prefer that melee was not even an option, so we could put the "S" back in FPS.

That's not a bad idea. Someone actually made a suggestion in another forum that I thought was an extremely good suggestion and would be a good compromise on the melee. They suggested that it would take 3 kicks to kill someone and each one would push them about 4 feet back, so you would have to choose to re-engage each time.

i think pilots' speed is ok
maybe melee speed could be normal, like in tf1

i also think the weapons are performing perfectly, but shots pushing players or enemies is a very interesting idea, yes

Agree with you on melee, I believe there has been some talk that respawn might nerf it somewhat.

The player speed and movement is perfect and frankly I like the melees. I can play good with any weapon , I really don't find any big disadvantages when playing with same skilled players. If you are in a game where you are facing down against much better opponents then they probably will completely outmaneuver you and melee you a lot , could be frustrating but it's because of the skill gap not the gameplay element. If I go on a kill streak with the awesome feel of the weapons and then finish off the streak with a flying knee to someone's face I feel so satisfied and it's incredible awesome to pull off. The game is totally awesome , fast paced and exciting , it really gets your heart pumping when you are locked into a heated match. Fun as hell

Glad you are at least enjoying the game and have solved your lag issues for the most part Omega.

I still see the lag all the time but atleast my connection doesn't seem to lag that much anymore but I see other players lagging a lot. Either way i am separating the lag from the gameplay design. I think the game is brilliantly designed but the connection is not good. Fair or not fair I am kind of keeping that separate when I talk about the way the game has been designed. I'm still able to have a lot of fun playing despite the disappointing net code.

A video I made. There's a great melee moment and this is why I think it's great to keep for this game.

Skip to the 8 min mark ,

watch the streak of kills until you see the melee. So these are 2 examples of why I think the melee is great

Thanks for the videos Omega. You're really good Omega and like I said I'm really glad you are enjoying the game, but we will just have to agree to disagree on melee. It looks like you would still be doing more than fine without it. I just think the way it is now it is just one more thing that adds to a culture of humiliation that drives new players away and when they leave with a bad taste in their mouth they rarely come back. I thought about this after I heard someone mentioning several times that they will end a session of playing TF2 not because they are satisfied, but because they are humiliated. Here is what I mean:

    1) Horrendous matchmaking system - other than trying to have even numbers at the start, there is absolutely nothing done to try to make sure the sides are balanced skill-wise, so usually the game is very lopsided skill-wise right from the start.
    2) Boosts - the team with the already lopsided skill advantage get their boosts faster.
    3) Titans - the team with the already lopsided skill advantage get their titans faster.
    4) Mismatch in numbers now - some players start leaving the losing team, because it is humiliating, so now there is mismatch in skill and numbers.
    5) Melee - of course the already stronger players are going to know how to use the instakill melee better, which only adds to the humiliation of the other team.
    6) One-shot kill with almost any weapon (or at least it appears that way) - there is not very good situational awareness in TF2 and you didn't even know you were being attacked and then BOOM, white shock flash and you're dead, which only adds to the humiliation.
    7) When you have new executions as a selling point in your DLC that just feeds into the culture of humiliation, because you are encouraging humiliating the other guy.

Now, put yourself in the shoes of a brand new player and imagine all of that hitting you at once. Is it any wonder new players don't stick around? I know the instakill melee is just one piece of it, but since it is not realistic anyway (even MMA fighters do not kill a guy in one punch or one kick), then do we really need just one more thing to rub salt in the wounds of a new player?

    they play TF1 instead ;)

I wrote that in my reviews
that is one of the main problems that pushes me away from the game after few matches

Special attention to that Respawn! the Feedback you have here is pure gold

that makes the game a lot less enjoyable for a lot of people, like me

Well that's my point you said I'm good and wouldn't need the melee and I agree the video demonstrates me doing the melee but not abusing it. You don't need the melee to be good at this game , and changing it would just continue the cycle of dumbing down the game for players who are less skilled and refuse to get better . This kind of melee is not a new thing by the way , I first seen it in halo 2 with the energy sword . Next time I saw it was in modern warfare 2 by this same respawn team . It was both frustrating and great. Many people cried about it through the years and call of duty now has an awful melee , imagine you going for a melee but you just miss because the knife has no range on it and the guy turns around and kills you lol believe me that ends up being way more frustrating to deal with . There is not one aspect in this game or weapon that you need to have an advantage. I can do good with just about any gun I use, once you understand how to look around and have situational awareness you can do good with any gun. Complaining about the melee is just another way of dumbing down the game. And we can't really say it's not realistic lol I mean we are playing a futuristic game here , it does fit in with the style of the game perfectly. If you want to see it reduced some like a minor toned down version then maybe I'll agree but I don't want to see this lunging melee totally killed .

I also can't buy into the culture of humiliation, in fact that is essentially what we have today in society a culture that likes to taunt and humiliate each other . The people who would get turned off from being executed I'm sorry to say shouldn't be playing these games in the first place it's not for them. This is an arcadish fun style of game it's not meant to be super realistic , if that's what certain people want they should purchase battlefield. I had to first deal with lunging melee and taunting ever since I first played online which was halo 2 , and it's still the same today lol. I got through it , it's part of learning how to play online. You will always have players who feel like taunting you or humiliating you , that will never change.

Once you learn the maps you will see the other players better, and you will be less surprised and killed out of knowhere with that white flash . That would be my advice to anyone who is a beginner. And again if a player can't learn how to have awareness in this game then they should never play a game like battlefield because they would get sniped across the map all game and killed over and over out of knowhere .

I really don't know what else to say about the game , if players are finding it to hard then I just feel like they are not meant to be playing a game like this or they just don't want to take the time to get good at it. If a few really bad games turns them away then they just have no will or dedication to getting better. Because titanfall is not really that hard of a game , it's really not. If you aren't new to video games in general I really can't see why a player can't become good at this, all the tools are there to be good , but you have to have patience and put in the work . Some days you might get stuck into hard lobbies where you get abused but overall i never found this game to be consistently hard or abusive like that.

i play TF1 and it's totally respectful, i wrote that in my review

there are executions in TF1, but not humiliation,
i got executed lot of times in tf1, never felt humiliated, the game does no allow players to do that kind of things
if it's possible, i have no discoverd it, after 70 hours and lots of defeats and deaths

i'm no talking about executions added in dlc, i like those, it's a funny addition, i like th knee in face,
i feel humiliated by the phase shift disappearing robots with epg, spawn, boom black white flash dead, respawn, repeat over and over again
in tf1 many times you know where are you beeing shot, many times i escape or the other player escapes and fight again later
i stay alive way longer in tf1, and kill many enemy pilots i never thought that was even posible and makes the gameplay lot more enjoyable
but in tf2, if i encounter an enemy pilot 99% of the times he kills me
and maybe i kill him, but then i get killed,
it's respawning over and over again

and the ridiculous orange glow en enemies, everyone is orange!

Ok so what exactly is the difference with the executions between both games? I never once felt humiliated by the execution I always thought it was sick and badass . It's just another dimension this game has in fun factor. Also you realize players will just teabag you when they want to humiliate you right ? You know what that is I'm sure because a lot of people do it. There's always going to be some form of taunting in competitive play , this is natural. I don't think the executions are over the top at all. People are gonna be pissed when they get meleed in every single shooter they play , getting killed like that and sniped are the two most hated ways to die in a shooter. Atleast the executions look cool as hell , I can appreciate them.

I never played Tf1 so I can't really compare both games properly or at all. I can't really give you an explanation why you die more in Tf2 maybe the tkk is higher in Tf1? Or are you saying you get killed more because you don't know where the enemy is in Tf2?

What is your win percentage in this game ? Like team wins. Mine is 54.6%. The matchmaking although is bad at times I don't feel overall it's been a bad experience. I pretty much loved this game since day 1. My biggest complaint has been the seemingly unexplained terrible netcode that causes a lot of lag . Why this happened I have no idea. The phase shift is something that I think is a lot more shitty and cheap than the melees and executions. So I would see that nerfed before even discussing the other things. And Ronins sword block seems crazy , but I never used him so I don't exactly know if that's balanced or not. But it does seem very cheap.

melee in tf1 is just a kick, normal speed or break the neck from behind, that's all
and the titan grabs the pilot from the cockpit and trows it away

the game is competitive, ys, but i don't fnd it irritating or humiliating if an enemy kills me with melee, he was faster, o saw me first, or whatever

i never felt humiliated in tf1 at all,

i'm not talking about melee in tf2,or executions added in dlc, i like those, it's a funny addition, i like the knee in face,
i feel humiliated by the phase shift disappearing robots with epg, spawn, boom black white flash dead, respawn, repeat over and over again

well, you should play it, it's the real titanfall experience
and the three dlc are for free and you can buy it very cheap now

yes, ttk is way higher in tf1, and it's easier to know where is the nemy even without the orange glow!

    mine is 45%

phase shift is stupid, i can shoot you and if you fight back i disappear, find a better position or hide and then kill you
    it's for cowards

and ronin sword block, blocks way too much damage, i mean the sword does not cover the whole titan, and even when it is doomed it still takes very litle damage

Speaking of changes that have been made I played a fair bit of TF 1 over the weekend. Its easy to see why they made the changes they did to TF 1 in terms of balance. I literally was never out of my titan, so so easy to stay alive. It was almost funny how easy it was. On the other side of the coin however, a doomed titan was actually doomed, not sure how many times I sat back map in a doomed titan staying alive only to explode. Ha!

it depends on lot of factors, player's skill for example

titans get destroyed the whole time, so, you are not invincible in the titan,
no need to make them so slow and weak as they are in tf2

Good one Derrame. :) If they are smart.

Yes, you are right Derrame, now that I think of it, it was you who mentioned that and I believe it is a very profound observation. For TF1, it was a challenge for new players, but not humiliating. For TF2, there is almost a culture of humiliation bred into the game.

    Thanks Derrame! Appreciate it buddy.

I do. I would like to see it be where it would take 3 shots with melee to kill someone with each shot knocking them about 4 feet away, so that you would have to choose to re-engage.

I'm sorry. I love you Omega, but I'm with Derrame on this one.

Yes, I agree. It is really hard to put a finger on it, but there was just something in TF1, where even when I first stepped onto Colony and was getting killed every 2 steps, I didn't feel humiliated, but there was something that spoke to me that said this is going to be difficult, but it will be worth putting the time in. If I had stared with TF2, I would not have felt that at all.

Yes, there is so much better situatational awareness in TF1. You can almost always tell when you are being attacked, from which direction and most times even with what weapon, and even if you take a little damage, you have time to react, get out of the way, lick your wounds and either engage them or move on.

Well, first, I want to make clear that the melee thing is just one small piece of the humiliation culture I'm talking about. I don't want you to think that my entire case for humilation revolves around the melee (go back up about 7 posts and look at the 7 pieces I laid out there, melee is only one of them). Second, I don't see it as adding fun factor. I see it as just one more thing that makes the game cartoony, which I don't like.

I've always said Omega that I wished someday you would play TF1, because you are so passionate and I want to hear what you think. This is a perfect example here. Derrame was a lot like you. He had only ever played TF2 and pretty much loved it, but has just always wanted more maps and Frontier Defense. He also had gone and looked at videos of TF1 and appreciated the look and feel of it. Well, Derrame just started playing TF1 about 3 weeks ago and look at how he is raving about it. And he is awesome at it. I am not a bullshitter. I won't say something if it is not true, but I absolutely know that I am one of the best Hardpoint Domination players in the world (and was when the lobby was full). Well, Derrame had only been playing TF1 for less than a week and it was about his 3rd game of Hardpoint Domination. We won and I played so well that the Gen 10 MVP of the other team was claiming I was cheating. Well, guess what? I was not even the MVP of our team. Derrame was. He had more Assault than me and more Defense while being on the same team with one of the best players in the world who was getting accusing of cheating and having played the game for less than a week. I really wish you could give it a shot Omega. Derrame is right, for about $10 to $20 you can get TF1, which incudes all 3 DLCs for a total of 24 large, well-designed maps.

I agree with you 1000% there. In TF1, I despised arc mines, because you shouldn't be allowed to kill me if you are not there. Phase Shift is like the polar opposite in TF2. You shouldn't be allowed to not be there when I have you dead to rights.

I agree with you there too.

Some games are like that, but not all. It depends on how aggressive you are in your titan and how focussed the other team is on getting rid of titans. I completely disagree though. When I go back to TF1, it makes me realize even more how the design changes they made were horrendous. I really don't like traditional FPS games and if TF1 had been that, I never would have played it. What I loved about it, was the movement, either as a pilot or when in a titan, and the power I felt and the sense of self expression it gave me that I had never felt in any other game. Killing that beautiful feeling so titans wouldn't last as long just rips the heart out of what made the game unique and special. It is probably the the least attractive thing to me about TF2, because it feels like I am fighing from inside of a slow, clunky, weak cardboard box with no regenerating shields.

    Yes, exactly!
