Was able to find these on the web since people are already playing. There isn't much groundbreaking news here, but rather just pics of settings you guys can try out. Which style will you be most comfortable with?

Think I will stay with the default, for now. I got used to it in the beta, but as I play more, I am sure I will switch.
    Evolved is looking interesting.

I am old, so it is takes some time for me to change my routine ;)

Yeah I've been using default forever, but I think I am going to try bumper jumper since it does make logical sense, but only for pilot!

I've been hearing a lot of people say they prefer Bumber Jumper to the other. Why is that?

Bumper Jumper made it's "debut" in Halo 3. It became a quickly adapted favorite of competitive players because you could now jump AND aim (since your thumb doesn't have to leave your right stick)...which can be very beneficial in winning your individual gunfights. It developed a tactic known as a jump strafe, which was often paired with "Gandhi hopping" mid air to avoid dying. Players would do anything to not die in those crucial moments, thus Bumper Jumper quickly became a new favorite layout amongst players. I'd also like to note that because of bumper jumper, you were also able to more easily aim your Melee's while midair... which could help you trade kills, or in more flashy situations you could more effectively "Ninja" players with a well timed jump followed by an aimed back smack.

In Titanfall, with the way the Xbox One controller is shaped, it's not hard to ADS while still having the ability to jump all with only using 1 finger. I attribute this mainly to the shape of the triggers and bumpers.

Previously the only way to achieve "jump shots" pre-Halo 3 was to play using a grip known as "claw". This is when you fire the Right Trigger by using your right middle finger, and placing your right index finger over the top of your ABXY face buttons. Claw is very advantageous, because a player could essentially switch weapons, reload, jump, and often melee while still never having to leave the right stick, occurring little to no loss in aim. Playing claw carries over many benefits amongst several shooter titles alike. It's used in Halo, CoD, and even GoW... however, it has been said that over time it can damage your hand.

Based on that notion alone, it has allowed companies like SCUF gaming to thrive by creating controllers to perform actions on the back of controllers via a "paddle" system. Typically there are 2 paddles on the back of SCUF Xbox controllers, but they can be configured for up to 4 paddles. What are paddles? They are elongated buttons that can be used to replace the functions of any button on your controller, not just ABXY. These controllers are used by literally every single professional Call of Duty player. But, being that's the case... SCUF is practically a monopoly in it's own right. Your average SCUF will cost your anywhere from $100-200 dollars.

Or you can risk injury and learn claw instead...

As for myself, I may get an ScufOne controller down the road if Titanfall did become highly competitive... but for now, I'm sticking to running Bumper Jumper. ;)

I'm not trying to call you out, but I'd like to illustrate that I too said the same thing to myself at the beginning of Halo 3...

Much like you, I swear I continued to stick to default for a few months because I didn't want to learn something new. It didn't matter how potentially beneficial it could have been to me in becoming a better player, it was still "weird" in my head so I shrugged it off like it was just a silly gimmick. I tried it for a literally 1 or 2 games, decided it wasn't my thing, and immediately went back to default. Boy was I wrong.

It wasn't until I realized I was losing 1v1 battles even though I may be "ahead" in the count. Halo took 4 shots (11-12 bullets) from a BR to kill someone, but nothing is ever dictated by the first shot. I felt that my accuracy wasn't the problem... but in fact it was something that occurred toward the end of each engagement. People would jump on their 3rd or 4th shot, and it would usually be significantly to the left or right to throw off their opponents. The upper hand in this scenario is to the player who still has his/her thumb on their right stick. Anyone who used Bumper Jumper or played claw would often dominate you because of this advantage.

When you play Bumper Jumper your thumb never leaves the stick, meaning a move like that is ALWAYS in your control. If I was playing default I would lose control of my aim to attempt to counter a jump with my own. Now, I know I said I felt it wasn't my aim/accuracy that was the issue yet I just said I lost control of my aim... that may be confusing to take in. I could hit my shots that wasn't the problem. The problem was I couldn't control them for that short moment while taking to the air. The difference is, Bumper Jumper ENABLED me to do much more than what I had been limited to as a player... those hard to hit split second shots were now a possibility. Jump strafe? Downloaded. Aimed melees? Perfected. Jumping off anything and still being able to quickscope people while mid air? Cake Walk.

It may sound silly, but honestly this small margin of previously unaccounted for error would prove on several occasions to be the reason I'd lose gunfights at the end. One gunfight (when on a 10 second respawn timer in Halo) can mean you and your team a lot. It could honestly cost you the game.

Do keep in mind that I've been playing Halo at this point since 2001... The only time you really encountered this before then was due to someone playing "Claw". But to be honest, to this day those players are a dime a dozen. Often rare specimens if you were to poll everyone who plays.

Dying to a well timed jump strafe in Halo 3 is like having a fade away jumper sink in your face "nothing but net" at the buzzer... nothing you can do but sulk as you lose game 7.

Trust me, the best thing to do in Titanfall is give Bumper Jumper a week. A FULL week. Stick it out, don't switch back, and I promise that it'll change the way you play for the better. You'll begin to question why it isn't in EVERY console FPS game.

I would very much like a controller scheme with Jump/Dash on L1, Melee on R1, and Crouch on Right Stick click.
I think these settings would be very good for those who want to be very mobile and in control of their characters movements. I instinctively try to use these buttons from playing Armored Core (Titan dash), Halo (melee), & Call of Duty (right stick crouch) and am having a tough time being happy with any of the control schemes in the tech demo. I would appreciate any opinions others would have on this idea, thanks.

I use Bumper Jumper. Tried it early and never looked back. The only problem is that left bumpers last about 4 days before they become dislocated ie broken. I learned to glue them back on carefully which works well indefinitely. But with the elite I change the LB to a paddle which saves wear and tear. I will never leave BUmper Jumper.

A new thread may be in order, but I will comment here for now. Age cannot be used as an excuse. Arthritis and poor eye sight are real limitations. But I think the real edge youth has is the wiring in their brains from using computers and gaming their entire life. Maybe the saccadic eye movement control in their frontal lobes has hypertrophied. They also have an instinct for how to trick other players which I always under estimate. Many of the basic principles of "outplaying" are not really game Specific.

I agree with you and I certainly am not making any excuses! I play because I enjoy it. I have only one eye, severe arthritis in my hands so I try to find other ways to compensate - I play much more strategically than I did when I first started back in the 80's. Age may slow us down but it also (in most cases) gives us wisdom!
