This video is long. I don't normally keep interest for this long, but this video is very VERY interesting.

Brad Wardell is a programmer with a degree in electronic engineering, specialising in computer engineering. He explains DirectX 12 in a way that makes sense to the illiterate like myself.

    Exciting stuff lies before us!

It bloody well does! It's true what he says about the look of initial 360 games compared to those of later years.

I'm just looking forward to the prospect of running over 100's of people in GTA6 in one go. Terrible of me, I know.

Once this potential is unlocked, THEN we will see the 'next gen' games that we've been expecting on this generation! Exciting times!

I'm definitely looking forward to DX12, even if there's not much of an improvement. I've heard that I will need to update my operating system from Windows 7 to 8, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I'm not sure if consoles get updates to DirectX, I would certainly hope so, as that's a huge feather in their cap. At least the next gen console's games are designed to take advantage of the hardware. Even now, we have people making games for PC that don't take advantage of the system's full capabilities, and it's the reason that smart gamers use Intel CPUs a lot more. AMD CPUs are generally cheaper, sure, but individual core performance is more important when only one or two get used by the games.

You don't need to update from 7 to 8. When Windows 10 drops, anyone on Windows 7 or higher gets a free update. The xbox one and windows phone along with the surface tablets also get a free Windows 10 update. It means devs can program cross platform and all your Windows devices will tie into each other. Tidy!
