I've noticed almost all Ronin players use this cheap nuclear ejection tactic. Exactly how do you counter this if you are using someone like scorch who is extremely slow? The blast radius seems to be so big it seems extremely difficult to get away from Ronin when he does that. Anyone have any good strategies or counter measures for this ?
It's almost impossible with how slow Scorch or Legion are. Actually even Tone and Ion as well, because all of the titans are so much slower in TF2 and Scorch and Legion make the Ogre from TF1 seem like a speed demon and you felt like you were already stuck in the mud with the Ogre. It was like, "C'mon dude! Let's go already!" What makes it almost impossible though is that as Mecha Maiden pointed out it is a really good strategy with the Ronin to use a Phase Nuke. Ronin is already the fastest titan, so if he decides he is going to go at some Scorches and Legions, he can already get to them quickly and then he can add the element that makes it almost impossible to avoid of using a Phase Dash at the end and then Nuke ejecting and there is nothing you can do. I think the only thing you can really do is try to be aware of any Ronin's on the battlefield and keep trying to stay as far away from them as possible. Also, don't stand in a pack with other Scorches and Legions, because that is too tempting and inviting for a Phase Nuke.
Maybe without this nuke ejection a Ronin player is too limited ? It seems that Ronin still can deal out some brutal damage without it. I don't like the fact that there's no counter to that move. There should be a way somehow to avoid it if your a good enough player. It's practically impossible to stop a Ronin from getting close and taking you out. Especially when they save the phase shift specifically to do that nuclear. If you have the dash equipped with scorch maybe that's the answer ? But maybe equipping that would really cripple scorches ability to be the most effective.
Yea your probably right. You have to just watch the crowd your standing in. And you can't be to aggressive with scorch and find yourself to close because you won't be able to escape. Scorch is definitely harder to use in this regard. You have to use more tactics with him
Yeah, that's a good idea to try. I guess you have to decide what is most important to you. Having a chance to avoid a Ronin Phase Nuke if necessary, or having a stronger Scorch all the time and just accept the occassional Ronin Phase Nuke.
