Looks like a lot of fun, I'll be picking it up. The Collectors Edition looks sick, especially for a huge fan of the game(s).
It just seems so absolutely bloody and gory. I love my violence, but this is just... too much. IMO it would be mindless brain numbing death everywhere that never ends and just keeps repeating over and over.
VIDEO GAME DEFINITIONS. DOOM - "mindless brain numbing death everywhere that never ends and just keeps repeating over and over"
It could, but not to me. People who become desensitised by violence in video games and then widen that out to the real world already have an issue. The game is incidental in most cases. I'm not saying the game plays no part but...it is only people who have a pre-existing issue who will do so. I hear what you are saying and I think you have a valid point however. Addendum-I'm a psychotherapist IRL so I do know something of this.
I'm not serious about the 'videogames make people violent' argument which is just stupid imo. But Doom.... it kinda reminds me of Destiny in the way it's kill kill kill. There needs to be time for a nice cup of tea where your character has time to reflect on how many blood borne pathogens he just got on his skin. I have to research hit more, but it does seem like an excessive amount of enemies doing the same thing in a time period. Or I could be getting the wrong impression, which I could since I related it to Spartan Ops in Halo. Up to 4 person coop, but you could do it solo. It was clearly made with the idea of having 3 other players fighting, so the solo fighting was drawn. The biggest factor for me not getting Doom... awkward playing it with family in the house haha! No matter how cool ripping someones heart out and feeding it back to them and watching them explode is, it wouldn't leave the best of impressions....
Oh, ok, I misunderstood..and yeah I have a family too but my gaming set up is in a corner in our bedroom so I am isolated from the family, my partner she desperately hates the noise of video games and isn't keen for our daughter to see the violent ones at least so I have my cave to play in.
I can't play Alien Isolation as it would terrify my youngest boy. well... That, and I'm a big scaredy cat.
The noise... my screaming into the mic gets pretty loud and my family hates it. The way that problem was solved: Mic was broken so now it sits at a 60 degree angle from my ear instead of covering it. Now I can hear myself talk and keep my voice down haha!
Yeee heee haaa! Doom rules and it's going to be awesome to have another shot at it, hopefully in tow even another movie would be great, hopefully minus the Rock - sorry Rock. Looking forward to it, lights off, bass up, nappy on. Yahoo!
