At least f'ing show me which players are paired up so I can quit before I get too far.
I absolutely agree with you. They should show you any groups on both sides in different colors, because you deserve to have that information before the game starts so that you can see exactly what help you have and exactly what you are going up against.
If you cant beat 'em join 'em.
It's a team based game, why not play with a team of people you choose instead of letting matchmaking do it.
I rarely play alone...
In fact lately I dont even play at all...
It's just my personal preference that I don't like to do that, even more so in TF1 with the user base so small now. I think playing with 1 is OK, maybe 2, and if not playing coordinated. However, I don't like sitting in block of 4, 5 or 6 friends, because they would normally be higher Gens and then it just creates lopsided games against the other team that end up being no fun for either team. The other team gets steamrolled and it is not at all challenging for our team. I see ZERO fun in that, which is why I try to play with no more than 1 friend at a time.
No matter what the case though, I totally agree with TI that we should always be able to see clearly what the groups are on our team and the other team.
I can usually do a decent job of guessing. If there's mic's on odds are good they're partied up.
Probably true. I don't even use a mic though and I mute everyone, because before I did that mostly what I heard was people bashing their own teammates, which I don't agree with and gets old real quick.
In my opinion, I just think it would not hurt anything and would actually be helpful to see all groups highlighted with different colors.
I hear you! It really must seem like your are being ganged up on. But it is probably truly like that when there are real Pro's or very serious players. When my "clan" gets together there is more distraction, talking, joking, showing off and foolishness going on and I usually finish last and so far worse than when I play alone. But I will take one of those games any day as this is what makes it fun for me. Battle knows what I am talking about. The bottom line is that if you are loosing against a group, it is probably because they are all good players.
Very true A Train, none of my "best games" have been while rolling with the squad.
All my best games come while playing with 1 or 2 others.
I can see how others will get intimidated when they see 1313 (titanfall tuesdays) before everyones name but lets be honest, we're there to chat and do stupid stuff like softballing and what not, don't really care if we win or lose.
I hear you guys, but going back to TI's original post, I completely agree with him that we should always be able to see who is grouped up on both teams. I think it would be a great enhancement.
But... Can we not already though?
It clearly shows mic icons does it not?
I see it.
Yeah, those icons dont represent who is playing with who but it gives a good idea on who all is partied or mic'ed up.
I never look at the mics. Since they already have the ability to make your friends green, I just don't see why they couldn't show all groups in different colors. It seems like it would be fairly easy to do and very useful.
This has been an ongoing thing. Groups of friends get together to play a GAME that just happens to be a TEAM based game that they enjoy playing TOGETHER and have to hear about how they are ruining the game. Really... it could be merely the opponents are better. You really trying to tell me that there are that many ass kicking teams out there that totally dominate their opposition that is/has ruined the game for everyone else that dares to even play the game. It ain't/can't be that serious. Easy, A-Train, Lex, Carter, Kernel, myself and others at times get together, have fun and play the game, have fun and chill. We win some, we lose some... it's the nature of the beast. And @A4eaTransformer is lying... I'm usually the last placed player on the team.
I love tearing up team's and their integrity with the Spitfire, first striking and making them crumble....even if my ass is about to be handed, knocking some of them off is just perfect.
Don't let it get to you, stim hard, don't hold back and charge into the other side of the map in those vital first few seconds you'll catch them off guard when you are up against crack squads, fluffing around getting into all their pre known camp/ambush spots to snot you as you all come through the more than obvious routes that we all use and die in, and think afterwards - you know, those ones we all do and sit there wondering "Why the hell did I do that again?", when the game starts.
You've gotta knock a few of them off early, crack squads don't expect it and it does wonders for draining morale surely, I always find I get down and taken off the point when I get smoked swiftly in the first couple of minutes when I'm feeling awesome and had a streak of 1st place, suddenly faced with a match from hell and some serious good pilots that can snot you flying backwards with their legs to their chest, can really put you off game. Try different routes, or save things like stim or cloak until you're halfway across the map. Hurl your grenades into known areas of camp. Smoke, is awesome for bringing them out. Do something, never give up dude.
Teams or no team, if your hands are starting to tingle and go numb, you're making their match stink. When I'm getting smoked, I never give in, and will fight till the end. At least also that way, they know you're someone to contend with and remember you for next time.
Go hard till the drop ship comes.
Battle will be back ruining lobbies October 1st! Ooooohhh Yeeeeeah! I'll have some friends along!
Awesome post. I could not have said it better. I like the part about booting it to their side early and getting the first kill, your first kill, and possibly your last kill. But it is worth it. Also, you gotta realize something else. Those hot shots who shoot you flying backwards with their knees up (love that description!!!), usually suck in a Titan. Once the Titan game begins, the margins narrow. Most of the hyped up acrobats and campers really do little damage in the Titans. Not always, but usually.
This is exactly what I mean when I say, "lesser pilots need to find ways to bridge the skill gap"
You can usually find something that you excel at to help your team.
Back in TF1 I fucking sucked!
I used stim amd amped smart pistols like a motherfucker amd pissed off people on the other team, and loved it.
I would then proceed to jump into my stryder and spam triple threats.
Road to Diamond 5 paved with insults from the other team!
In TF2, I'll kill anything that moves slowly
Then get in my Titan and smash!
I'm mostly an LTS player but yeah, for those games that your weaker at, find something and contribute.
I got into CTF, I suck at PvP play but I can bounce around like a squirrel on crank!
I got the slide hop technique down and practiced running routes on all the maps so I'm confidently one of the fastest players in the game... Now if only I could aim while squirrling around the maps....
Very inspirational Rott! You should be a motivational speaker or a coach or something. Also, some funny stuff in there as well and loved the picture.
Ha ha. Love it. I too am very fast and there on lies my problem. I get so lost in my wonderful time flying around feeling the rhythm that I almost forget about the sucker hiding and waiting to kill me. But I am a mown the junkie and will never give it up. It is indeed frustrating when you swoop to the enemies camp and plop down catching them unaware, A triple kill in your sites, only to totally choke and miss. My biggest problem is having the gun bounce when I land or having the target just out of the comfortable line of fire as I descend. But now that I know my problems, I am working on it and soon I will also be one of those jerks with his knees to his chest. Or not.
