Well this is the definition of a marketing beta in which most likely nothing will change in the final game. They are most likely restricting access to PC players as well to avoid everything being spoiled in the game because PC players will have access to all the files that consoles don't.
Yeah, this data mining malarky is probably one if the factoring causes of devs skipping the PC for pre-release demo/betas.
