Just thought I'd put this out there... the free upgrade thru Windows will be ending soon. For what I use it for it works fine for me. IJS.
I love the OS... When it's not breaking my computer! Currently, I can't left click my start button, I can't click on the action centre and the store icon has vanished. Consequently I can't stream from my Xbox. I've googled it and thousands of folk seem to have the same issue, and I've tried about 10 different proposed fixes, none of which work. I even tried a system restore, but it won't even let me do that. My mothers PC has the same issue from time to time, but the fixes sort hers out (frustratingly!) It's a pain as I genuinely like the platform. I'm on my 3rd Windows phone, and even though I'm on the inside ring for updates, it runs really well. I also have W10 running on the Surface tab, and there are never any problems with that.
Cheers lad. Tbh, between my phone and surface, I've little time for the desktop. It's frustrating, but not that high on my list of fixes right now!
How do you upgrade to Win10? What do I have to do? Is it easy? Been thinking about it, but I am not sure how to do it. Any and all suggestions are welcome.
I went here... https://www.microsoft.com/. I like it because now when the wife is in control of the Gaming TV, I can at least stream to my laptop and get my gaming fix on.
Upgrade it. Now. It's a good piece of software. It's Microsoft's best work since 7. Windows 8 was good, but had a few problems here and there. Windows 10, tho? I haven't had a big problem with it since release. It was almost flawless, only one error or two, but other than that... damn near perfect. And even if you don't want to upgrade, they're not leaving you with any more choice. If you don't upgrade at the end of upgrade period, you will have to upgrade or pay $1XX. No if or buts. There should be a prompt for you if you're on most Windows platforms. Like XP, the whole point of forced upgrades right now is to raise the adoption rate for the software. They want XP users to upgrade, they want Vista users to upgrade, they want 7/8 users to upgrade. You guys need to realise: Microsoft spends an enormous amount of human capital just to upgrade, patch and update XP, Vista, 7/8, or any version Windows has. So, when investors see the checkbook by Microsoft, they keep asking questions like "Why are you still having developers do legacy platforms?" They think it's a waste of resources.
rainman0211...................could you tell me exactly what you did to dl Win10? I appreciate any suggestions you have.
Hey @Kingkat54. I went straight to https://www.microsoft.com/ signed into my account (or make an account) and just followed the steps. So simple, even I did it.
If I'm not mistaken, you've got until some time in July (the last week I think) before the free offer expires.
Well kind of sucks. My favorite thing about it is the ability to stream to my laptop and play TF and others when the big screen has been commandeered by wifey.
I'm praying that the announce streaming to W10 mobile at E3. Having a bath, listening to music while playing Titanfall? That's the stuff dreams are made of!
