I loved the different types of aliens lurking around in Titanfall 1. I'm halfway through 2's campaign and I'm loving the wildlife, but I can't help but notice that multiplayer has little to none. Boneyard from titanfall is a perfect example of how awesome creatures in and around the map were. I think newer maps need some of that. They don't have to be hostile but maybe you can see something biting off a grunts head or some crazy animals running around the map. I'd just love to see more of that in the maps, it gives it that other worldly feel.

    Hey Skii,

Excellent point and I couldn't agree more. I would like to see more AI. Grunts and creatures (yes that is controversial) but it adds another dimension to the game.

It is funny you bring this up today, this morning while at my physio I was thinking about the maps as well. Now I don't want to do the TF1 vs TF2 comparison but what I find in "2" is the maps are bland - not a lot of rich colour changes between maps they need more variety for me they all have the same look and feel. I would love it if the added:
    • Rain Map - a map where weather is a factor. In BF they have sand storms, gas attacks, changing weather conditions etc and it changes how you must play.
    • Highest Mountain - couldn't think of a better lead-in! How about a map the takes place in mountainous terrain where the Titans have to travel through valley's and passes while pilots could seek higher elevations.
    • Snow - have a map location that takes place in the winter (no not a Florida winter one of my Northern Ontario ones). They could really do some interesting things on the ice and snow.
    • TF1 Maps - with the return of Angel City I hope it is a sign of things to come as there were some excellent maps in that game, with a bit of tweaking they could be awesome in TF2. This might also help Respawn keep development costs down.
Ok so now on to my next dream...

i was hoping to see wild lief play a big part with the Ai in titanfall 2 , with giant creatures to fend off while defending or capturing a hardpoint , IMO i was not fond with the removal of AI in hard point as i think that they could have integrated modes for the playstyle.

warzone feel with Ai and Ai creatures with no loyalty to any team giving a dynamic and epic feel as players have yet something different to use or fight in the battle other that human controlled pilots. that and a point system to earning one's titan by protecting fellow AI and pilots with assist . Gook post Skii!

All great ideas DARK, especially the point that using TF1 maps would keep development costs down. Why not? They have 23 more maps they could just port over and more than triple the size of our playground.

Trini, you and I have disagreed about this for a long time and I have to say that I think you have won me over. I was happy to not have AI in hardpoint, because in objective modes I didn't think they should be interfering (giving away your position, blocking your flow, finishing you off when you just got done with an epic battle and just needed to lick your wounds). However, having played TF2 while continuing to play TF1, I actually do prefer them being there.

i totally understand your point with the Ai affecting one's game play when like you said before with the Ai getting in the way when you are going in the door or jumping in or running pass them as collision in a game multiplayer can and have always been a nuisance if it happens enough when playing.
what i would have them do and would have like to see is like you said ense before if you are stealing the hard point or objective there should be something to at least counter the AI from giving away your position if a player is in a hiding spot . like a delay for them to sound off a perk that makes you move silent , suppressor on the gun . all the above . but this is easier said than done as you know .

bt i believe with twerking with in reason this could be balanced to be fair and still leave room for player skill and know how to approach the hard point.

am more for fixing the collision with AI and even titan knocking up with other titans on the maps. this one is a hard one to find a viable solution too with minimal change to the dynamics of the game . only a dev can fix this IMO.

cheers ensc. and if i don't see you happy new year brother.

well not only they are lazy with the grunt AI, this time around the grunts are so dead, no funny dialog or heck they behave so idiotic, the wild life? forget about it, if u wanna go multiplatform support, console cant handle in game world AI in MP... respawn just incompetence to do it, titanfall2 is such a let down in MP from Titanfall1 . i lost about 15+ party member from coming back to play, all of them stop supporting titanfall community after the beta.. its really sad. respawn driving themselves into an early grave... i have little expectation of them ever patching in or fixing this half finish MP content game...

You are right. I've played TF1 every single day for the last 2 years and almost 10 months now and just the other day I heard the grunts say something I had never heard before and it just totally cracked me up.

I'm with you there brother. My pain is still deep from this one. I looked forward to TF2 for so long only to feel betrayed quite honestly. They only listened to pure traditional FPS players who hated TF1 and did not listen to any of the players who absolutely loved TF1 for all of it's beautiful uniqueness and for not being a traditional FPS game.

As much as I agree with you EN; reality is that they could not survive with only the support of the loyal TF1 community. By lowering their standards (FPS Traditional Model) they believed that they could attract more players. To some extent they were right! But not as right as they thought they would be as sales didn't come near their projections. Of course this occurred for several reasons we have discussed:
    • Poor timing
    • Weak marketing
      • Dropping the price by 50% meant that to generate the same gross profit they would have to sell twice the number of games than they had with the original price. This is marketing 101 and only a bone head in panic mode would do such a thing. Especially when there was nothing to offer except price!
    • Disastrous "Tech Test" which unfortunately people didn't understand and made decisions not to buy.
Now in terms of keeping players, not going to happen:
    • Maps - not enough
      • Poor design, three lanes (TF1 were as well but with more verticality it didn't seem like an issue.)
      • Arcade like feel
      • Bad maps like Complex and Crash Site
    • Boredom - maps are a big part of this but also the game modes
      • Pilot warfare - too much emphasis on Pilot vs Pilot (PvsP, Coliseum, Live Fire)
      • Map rotation - it sucks to get the two worst maps three times in a row in rotation!
    • Incomplete and lack of attention to detail
      • Gen Counter - this is a small point but does demonstrate what I mean. When you start at any level it is .01, .02, .03 etc until you get to .08 the next number is "9" what gives with that, it should be .09 and then 1.00 and so on.
      • Challenges - no meaningful path to regen, the concept of advancing based on time in the game really makes for a dull game with no feeling of accomplishment.
      • There are so many areas were the game just seems incomplete it is overwhelming.
      • Titan Ready messages - this is nothing more than a lack of attention to detail if they had done their homework surely they would not have let this message block out the "Contested" warning in AH. We already have the voice telling us and the HUD shows it below.
    • Poor communications they have been slow to communicate with us and when they do it is lacking in real substance. The recent DLC announcement did have some detail regarding a few things but no dates and vague promises of more to come.
      • I think there has been a 10 to 15 percent drop in players on line since the announcement. I have started to track player numbers at certain times of the day to verify this and will report my findings later.
I could go on but you get the point. The really sad thing, in my opinion, is that I suspect the Respawn is running low on resources and no matter how passionate they are they just don't have what it takes to make the changes we believe are required.

    Very well said DARK!

I agree with pretty much everything you said.

I really appreciate that you are doing this and look forward to see your numbers when you are satisfied (no rush, would rather have more data than less), but I know you will do a good job of this:
This is the only part I disagree with:
I believe that the most successful things in life are the ones where you stick to your guns, because you know you are right, because you believe in what you are doing, you don't compromise, and you just continue to try to do the best you can and do it the right way.

I believe that TF1 was a beautifully, unique experience that really allowed you to express yourself in so many ways that you cannot do in a traditional FPS game. Of course, many died in the wool traditional FPS players are going to hate it, because it didn't allow them to sit and get their precious kill streaks, but GOOD! It was not meant for that. But if rather than compromising to please that crowd that the game was never designed for, if you embraced your art and your vision that you believe in and take it to the next level (HUGE maps, wallrunning titans, strong pilot jet packs to get around those huge maps when not in titans, battle bikes to get around those maps when not in titans, titans throwing pilots to get them across the maps faster). At some point, this beautiful, unique experience is going to become so epic that people are going to notice and say to themselves, "Ooohhh!!! I gotta get me some of that.!" Because when they see videos of gameplay of two giant metal titans launching off of walls at high speeds and colliding in mid-air, rolling to the ground and then duking it out in epic battles, they will take notice. NOW!!! Now, you've created a completely new exciting genre and can build your own base of players, because you have an experience they cannot get anywhere else. If you build it, they will come, but you have to believe in it and stick to your guns and not sell out, which is what they did instead. They went in the complete wrong direction, so now you are left with not a big increase in users, but also no longer a beautifully, unique experience.

The best example I can give of what I am talking about is Sylvester Stallone and the first "Rocky" movie. If you've never heard the story, it is a great story and worth a read:
    http://www.almorel.com/2011/11/the-amazing-story-of-the-making-of-rocky/

The important point here is that he could have sold out (left someone else play Rocky, appease the traditional FPS crowd), but he knew the beautiful art he had in his hands and that the vision could only be brought to life in one way (if he played the part of Rocky, if TF1's beautiful, uniqueness was embraced). He stuck to his guns and we have one of the greatest movies of all time and if TF2 had done this we could have had one of the greatest video games of all time as well. If he had compromised and any other actor had played Rocky, it probably would have been just another movie in the crowd. TF2 was compromised and now it is just another traditional FPS game. Such a shame. And, this is probably why you can tell in a lot of things I write here that my heart is broken, because I know what could have been.

En I agree with your point of view, however if we take the emotion out of it then there would not have been enough capital to create and maintain the game; period! I am not endorsing what they did but accept the realities of their situation. Respawn have taken a couple of pretty big gambles and I don't think they have worked out.

Surely you can see the fiscal restrictions they had and I suspect have only gotten worse.

I don't blame you for believing this DARK, because I think that is the widely accepted belief. However, I also believe it is lazy thinking. I prefer to believe that anything is possible if you are committed. There are always other ways and sometimes the road less travelled will produce the greatest results. I would have preferred that Respawn said screw you EA and take their Titanfall brand and go the crowdfunding route. Think about it. Do you realize how many gamers (even those who never even played Titanfall) would be willing to support Respawn in this just for the fact that they gave EA the middle finger?

i agree with this 100% and then some , brother . it is late in the game cycle and still have not reviled there road map only that they have a map but no details, one would thing this would have been the first thing they would have announce.

too many red flags , there is something going on behind the curtains with EA and Respawn .

I know that Ik0n, but I believe you are a minority. I think you are the exception the rule. I actually really respect that about you, because even though you loved traditional FPS games prior to TF1 and still do, you were open minded enough to embrace the beautiful uniqueness of TF1.
