I just have to put my 2 cents in here as this is not accurate. First of all, changing chassis is the only thing that would change the model of the Titan (weapon, ordnance, etc) doesn't change the model. Secondly, you can change stuff in Titanfall 2 as well if we're counting all that which will give you more than 7 "models" it would be 91. That's not even counting all the customizing options (gun camo, titan camo, nosearts, prime titans, titan executions, etc) that actually change the way your Titan looks that would put it far beyond 192.

Finally, while yes, you could customize much more in regards to your Titan in Titanfall 1 when it came to weapons and ordnance, most people only used 1 setup because it was vastly superior to everything else.

Sometimes TOO MANY choices doesn't make things better.

Camo does not change the model. It is like saying a red Camaro is different model than a blue Camaro. It changes nothing functionally. In TF2, the only thing you can change that changes functionality is the kits, but it is the most minor thing you could change even in TF1, but I'll give you that. So, whatever the calculation is for 7 titans and changing out the 2 kits, that's it. I'm not going to do the math, because I don't even care, because its TF2 and not worth it. All I know is it is nowhere near 192.

And that is total bunk. That is just that warped logic propaganda that gets repeated over and over and then people start believing it. NONSENSE!!! I still see multiple variations, way more than what you see in TF2 even to this day with a tiny user base compared to TF2. And what infuirates me about it is it was propoganda that was pumped out there over and over again to try to legitimize going to these preset hero cartoon clownshow titans.

We'll just agree to disagree on that last bit because it was quite clear that people pretty much used the same exact loadout with little to no variation. Let's look at it from the ground up.

Chassis (there are 3 in TF1, there are 7 in TF2)
Primary Weapon (there are 6 in TF1, there are 7 in TF2)
Tactical Ability (there are 3 in TF1, there are 7 in TF2)
Ordnance (there are 4 in TF1, there are 7 in TF2)
Tier 1 Kit and Tier 2 Kits are combined in "Titan" and "Titanfall Kits" and give you the same amount of options.
Not to mention all the defensive abilities you can pick from.

I did the math, you have 7 different titans with 6 options from the Titan Kit, 2 options from the Titanfall Kit and 5 options from the Titan specific kit. So 7 x 13 = 91. So there would be 91 different options you could pick from.

Don't get me wrong, I love Titanfall 1 and I even like the idea of customizing Titans, but don't pretend that TF2 doesn't give the options to customize. The weapon design for Titans in TF1 was limited because it had to work with every single Titan, it creates a balance. If you could just customize everything in this game, it would result in the same thing with everyone picking the best options (most likely a fast Titan, with the 40mm cannon and cluster missile) which MOST people use in Titanfall 1.

there is still 3 chassis in tf2. not 7. , there are 7 class of titans granted . different cores , with each there own weapons 7.

i am down with having a class system , with titans having locked in cores. but as for the titan weapons have it similar to how the pilots are set up.
example 7 pilots all have there locked special ability , cloak , hook , etc.. but you have also a choice of weapon classes. smg , shotgun , energy weapons etc.

now you have more choices .

at the end of the day the titan main concept was to be an extension of the pilot. a weapon to be used at will. which they implemented well in tf1..

i would like to play as a ion with the laser core. and probably have a 40mm cannon. rather than the ionshot.

things like that...or the touch with a rapid fire gun. other than the flame gun.

those choices i would like to see re implemented..

in titan fall 1 what did we really need was new maps. new weapons and new titans. that looked different.

as for the kits in tf2 correct me if i am wrong are they also limited to those specific titans ..

Ik0n, I just want to first of all commend you on not taking what I had said personally, because I knew I was a little harsh and I had just come back to add a note at the end of what I said to point out that it wasn't directed at you, but that I am just frustrated with the whole philosophy that has been perpetuated that you were just echoing. I very much appreciate that even after me being a little harsh, you were a bigger man and stuck to our agreeing to disagree relationship we have had. Thank you for that. I really appreciate it.

I can understand how you feel there are more primary weapons, ordinances and tactical abilities, but from my point of you, if I can't pick and choose and create my own combinations, it doesn't really count, because I don't like any of the combinations they have, so I cannot express myself the way I want. I am stuck having to tolerate what some developer thought would be cool, and that is totally not cool.

I also agree with Trini that there are not 7 chassis. For example, Ronin and Northstar are basically a Stryder. Ion, Tone and Monarch are basically an Atlas. Scorch and Legion are basically an Ogre. They may have slightly different cosmetic looks, but really there are only 3 chassis.

I know you love TF1 and TF2 more than anyone I have ever seen Ik0n, so you are certainly entitled to your opinion if anyone is in my opinion.

    example armored core .
great concept , cool game , but just too complicated at times..

i like choices with in reason.

and the concept of tf1 as having almost 2 games in one was great. and within reason. we just needed a few more choices with out getting out of hand

Maybe I am just slow or simple. Ya, I agree totally about the maps. But I ALWAYS am able to find new challenges and combinations of things to do in this game to keep me interested. The learning curve is endless for me and this is what is so great about TF 1 and TF 2. I will be bored when I can grapple as well as Papercut2u and when I snipe with a Kraber as well as the Rendy guy on and on. Not counting the map issue, If someone is bored they are either the most skillful gamer out there or they are wanting to be spoon fed and have a game dumbed down game.

Not trying to argue, but just offering a different perspective. The TF2 titans do not interest me, because none of them allow me to express myself the way I want. The removal of wallrun acceleration and carrying momentum as a pilot also does not allow me to express myself the way I want. Therefore, its not that I am bored. I'm just not interested.

No problem. I enjoy talking to people with differing perspectives and keeping things civil. Everyone has their own perception. I also understand what you mean about not being able to pick and choose between options and you're right, there is only technically 3 chassis. My point is, if they gave you the option to pick, 95% (I'm not echoing anything, I'm speaking from experience) of people are going to be picking the same exact thing so I appreciated their effort to venture into the "Hero" arch-type trying to make things unique trying to get everyone to play with everything (this is why I loved Regen challenges).

I could see where a compromise might be good. Leave the hero "Hero" thing just to get some people using different ones because they like the "personality" of a certain one (more of a cosmetic difference), but within each one still allow total customization as TF1 had. I NEED, not want, NEED to be able to select every important component of my titan so that I can fully express myself the way I want, otherwise, I am not interested and will not be buying TF3. I play a game to express myself, so if they are going to force me to have handcuffs on or have my hands tied behind my back, because I can't use what I want, then I cannot express myself the way I want and therefore have no interest in giving them money or wasting my time.

I think Respawn missed a great opportunity in TF2 to allow full and complete customization of your Titan. Like being able to go to the "custom shop" and buy things for it. Colors, arms, legs, armour plates, imaginative things that made your Titan exactly the way you want. Weapons maybe as is.........gained as you progress. Or discover a battle worn Titan and remake it into something you like, and have a "second" one to call on. And I still think TF2 should have been just an "add-on" to TF1 and given more maps, weapons, etc. Stand alone just splits the community. And I agree with a lot that has been posted. I grew bored however, not because I was so good, ( I am not), but because I never saw TF2 as an improvement over the original.

Yeah, I don't consider cosmetic customization worthwhile. I'm not interested. However, I would be totally down with some very deep and detailed functional customization. I don't care how things look, I only care how they work and feel.

I had really hoped that TF1, or 2 would have allowed more character customization. I wanted MY character to have a certain look. I guess it goes back to my time playing Ghost Recon, and all the wonderful "skins" modders made! Just a personal preference, I just like my character to look different than everyone else.

You are in the majority. Many people do like to change how things look. I wouldn't mind if I was given the ability to paint every square inch myself and make it truly custom. I'm not interested in using skins created by others that are frankly not good and not interesting and where 1000 people could be wearing the same skins.
