    Background

I did not play the original Titanfall however, I have recently purchased, played and conquered Titanfall 2.
I loved the single player campaign, especially the narrative. The characters, story, lore, atmosphere and dialogue were well written. For instance, the factory manufacturing level was a masterpiece, with the mix platforming, gunplay and gorgeous set pieces. Even the cinematography and editing were of a high quality. The gameplay also made an impression on me. The moments when you link with BT7274 felt so, so right. And with that said the Titan gameplay added another dimension to first-person 'twitch' shooters. At times it also reminded me of Bungie's halo games.
The multiplayer, social or competitive, is where I believe a lot of the ... imperfections are highlighted. Most notably map designs and weapons lack personality, the pilot 'time to kill' (TTK) is a little off, and the longevity of multiplayer is short (Perhaps due to the progression system, lack of content, and goals). Despite these imperfections it still manages to be fun and exciting.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is when you know you have something truly amazing.

    The Heart

Imagine an object landing on an earth-like planet's surface. The ground trembling and the plants shaking all round the point of impact, springing a thick cloud of dirt and dust all around it. As the surrounding forest of lush green and thick vegetation begins to settle, and the cloud begins to thin, a silhouette appears in the shape of a human. But it can not be human for it's stature is gigantic and it's movement still. No, this IS no human falling from the heavens. This ... is a Titan. Then there is a sound of rigid metal doors opening. And a pilot slowly walks out and hops on to the softened dirt and takes a few steps forward. *The camera now faces the front of the pilot and the Titan, slowly moving out from a medium shot to a long shot. As this is happening, you see and hear the Titan closing his pilot hatch and straightening his posture to his natural stance. The camera cuts to a third person point of view behind the titan and his pilot looking out over the cliff face to view the vast landscape of the planet known as Harmony.

    The Details

A single player, open world, first-person shooter, platforming, role-playing game. You play as a pilot and a titan. Both of which you can customise and upgrade etc. The dynamic of playing as a pilot and a titan is what makes this game unique and is why i love it. Titanfall 2 is average when it is solely pilot gameplay or solely Titan gameplay. When combined together there is a synergy. 1+1 = 3. It is because of this characteristic that i believe it has the grand potential to be a step forward in the open world, RPG genre. It is original. A breath of fresh air.
A perfect mix of narratology (Story) and ludology (Gameplay).

    Gameplay
You can enter a town, city area, village, and space station where you have to leave your titan behind but you interact as a pilot with other npcs (non-playable characters).
There will be many times where you will have to be a pilot and many times when you have to be a titan. For instance, when exploring the outskirts or jungle area, there will be these large flying beasts (like in Titanfall 2 campaign). As a pilot it would be prudent to take a stealthy approach, keep away by moving through the trees/plants/rocks with Respawns excellent mobility system etc. But as a Titan you would want to engage, kill or conquer it. Certain areas will be restrictive to Titans and you will have to go on foot as a pilot and perform run and gun gameplay but you may also receive support from your titan. I am just barely scratching the surface with the possibilities of gameplay.

    Narrative
The lore is very interesting even though there isn't much ... yet.
The narrative and atmosphere will revolve a lot around the relationship between you (The pilot) and your Titan.
*Come to think of it Cooper and BT remind me a lot of Chief and Cortana. And there was also an Ark in Halo as well.
The narrative potential is endless. Titanfall can be the next Sci-fi Epic gamers have been longing for since Knights of the Old Republic and Mass Effect 2.

My name is Nicholas and Titanfall 2 inspired to write this. I am a gaming enthusiast who loves creating. I hope I have provided some feedback that aligns with the direction Respawn is taking. If there is a chance no matter how small it may be. If Respawn or EA are interested in taking Titanfall into a open world, RPG direction, I would love to be apart of creating a masterpiece.

P.S. That actual TitanFall 2 Forums would not allow me to post. The process of linking accounts is complex and messy. So i would like to thank TitanFall-community for creating a simple and open forum.

Edit: I think BioWare's new IP 'ANTHEM' might be what I described above but we will have to wait until Microsoft's E3 conference.

    welcome, pilot

yes, i agree with most of what you write
the single player story was amazing, i hope there is a tf3 and rescue BT and keep doing missions and exploring the frontier, and keep expanding and developing that potential

the mp is good too, fun, fast, addictive, it could use some more maps and some other tweaks....
    but it's ok

    glad you liked it :)

You know what NTSF99, I think you may be onto something here. I think some might just dismiss what you are saying as, "Ahh, yeah, he's just describing the Single Player campaign.", which you are, but I believe what you are suggesting, and please correct me if I am wrong, is that they could actually just extend the Single Player game, by itself into a game like a normal RPG where instead of just having about 10 hours worth of play, it could give you about 120 hours worth of play (2 hours/day for about 2 months). If that is kind of what you are suggesting, I absolutely love that idea and here is why. I would actually like to have both a good Single Player game and a good Multiplayer game. The reason I really like your idea is because I think it would be a good reason and a good way to keep them separate and there is no reason for them not to be separate. You can never play them at the exact same time anyway. What I am suggesting is kind of building off of your idea and saying actually have 2 completely separate games created by 2 completely separate teams that could even come out on alternating schedules. Here is what I am suggesting (including what's already been done):

3/15/14 - Titanfall - Multiplayer (extremely polished, engineered, detailed rich experience)
10/28/16 - Frontier (rename) - Single Player (extremely polished and beautifully done), MP garbage afterthought and horrendous, unnecessary design changes especially when it comes to titans
7/4/18 - Titanfall 2 (the real one the way it should have been, and Multiplayer only) - start with TF1, which had the superior mechanics especially when it comes to titans. Since there is only about a year, only focus on a few things to amp it up the way it should have been. Create a few larger maps, HUGE maps, with giant walls around the edges and chunks throughout the middle and allow the titans to wallrun. Keep the same core mechanics, but make the titans faster and stronger for these big maps. The only other thing I would focus on would be creative ways for pilots to get around these larger maps faster when not in a titan. If you just focus on those things only and leave all else as is in the best video game ever, this could probably be achieved in one year. Plus the date signifies the independance from the Single Player game.
    3/15/19 - Frontier 2 - a 120 hour Single Player RPG.
    3/15/20 - Titanfall 3 - Multiplayer only
    3/15/21 - Frontier 3 - a 120 hour Single Player RPG
...and so on, can get into a rhythym

Here is why I think this would be a brilliant plan. In my opinion, TF1 was the best video game ever made. The entire focus was on the Multiplayer and it was a work of art. In TF2, the Single Player Campaign was outstanding and perfectly done, but the multiplayer suffered due to all the time spent on the SPC as well as the unnecessary time wasted on the horrendous design changes. Why not have the best of both worlds? This way you don't even have to admit you screwed up on TF2, because it was the birth of what will be the Frontier Single Player RPG franchise, but you can also do the right thing and go back to TF1 as the starting base for the future of the Titanfall Multiplayer franchise.

Also, one last note to NTSF99, since you can get it for about $10 and it is the best video game ever created, I would highly recommend picking up TF1 so you can experience it. I would describe it this way: With regard to the Multiplayer only, TF1 is like an adult war movie, where TF2 is like a bad Saturday morning cartoon.

there is so much to explore and do on the frontier, i hope that in the next game we explore new planets, new environmnts, vegetation, swamps, maybe new lifeforms, and new battlefields, new titans, new ships

    I agree ensc.
It definitely will be a separate game. You also seem to understand my vision, which is awesome. There is definitely a market for both games (Frontier-singleplayer and Titanfall-multiplayer).
Derrame's ideas are also apart of my vision for instance, the environments such as swamp with native beast and creatures, battlefields for mixed combat between pilots, titans, beasts and ships.

However, the essence of the gameplay would be the first-person, pilot-titan dynamic, because that is the competitive advantage Titanfall has against the rest of the games in the industry.

I will also consider purchasing the TF1, i just hope there is still a decent player base in my region.

P.S. I hope everyone is enjoying E3 because there are some very intriguing games. Anthem, Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, LOTR: Shadow of War, and Assassin's Creed: Origins ... just to name a few.

Thanks NTSF99! I'm glad I understood your vision and that you agree with my building off of it as well. I absolutely believe there would be a market for both games. Also, notice how after the first one, I've moved the launch window back to where TF1 came out as well, because this time frame has less competition against other FPS games.

Yes, Derrame and another member Trini Chinese are very in tune with how the environment and feel of the game should be. They have lots of great ideas about these things.

Yes, I agree. The relationship between Jack Cooper and BT was very rich for only 10 hours of play time. Imagine how deep and connected you could make that feel and how in depth the story could go if you had 120 hours of play time. I mean, think about it, the TF2 SPC was like watching 5 movies or one 10-episode season of a good TV show. 120 hours would be like having watched 60 movies or twelve 10-episode seasons of a good TV show.

You can still always get a game of Attrition any time of day and I don't imagine that changing for at least a couple years yet. You can most times still even get a game in the Mutliplayer Campaign, but within the last month or two the player count has dropped off and there are times when you can't. Put it this way, before Titanfall, I would play a game for 2 months and be ready to move on to the next game. Ever since I got TF1 on 3/15/14, I have played it every single day for usually a minimum of 2 hours/day and after 3 years and almost 3 months it is still my absolute favorite video game and I am not even the slightest bit bored with it.

Oh, as far as players in your region, they don't have to be there. I am in EST and here is what I do. If I am playing between say 4PM and 3AM I will use the EAST US server. After 3AM and through the early afternoon, I would play on the NORTH EUROPE server. You can switch the server at the bottom right of the main screen. As long as you are willing to switch servers like that, you can get a game of Attrition any time of day and most time a game of the Multiplayer Campaign.

well said my friend. and cheers for your views and welcome to the community.

the original forums is a waste of time , imp. they seem to concentrate on moderating rather that open views. it is not like how it was before. you don't have the freedom as before .

i agree with you on your views on the story campain it is a great attempted and possable futute story extention there . but the lure in the titan fall universe has much more potential .

the feel that you described is what many of us has for the original and while it is present in the current game it to me and to many that played the first feels a bit watered down somewhat. as the first had and has so many great concepts to expand on.

the game has a lot of potential and very great concepts.
and to many even myself they seem to have changed direction on some core concepts , i hope to return in the future.
example a multiplayer campaign system . a concept that was not perfect in part 1 but a concept that has a lot of potential to set a narative in the multiplayer universe , to help enhance the main story and tell new ones .

Yeah, and one of the beautiful things about the Multiplayer Campaign is how it allowed you to continue playing a mode, Hardpoint Domination, that had for all intents and purposes died after about 7 to 9 months. Even though the Hardpoint Domination lobby has been pretty much dead since then, the entire time since then even up until today, you can still play almost 50% of your games in Hardpoint Domination by playing the Mutliplayer Campaign, because there is a preset pattern like this:

    Hardpoint Domination
    Attrition
    Attrition
    Attrition
    Attrition
    Hardpoint Domination
    Attrition
    Hardpoint Domination
    Hardpoint Domination

So, every 4 out of 9 games, you still get to play Hardpoint Domination. Honestly, if it had not been for that, I may have stopped playing the game a long time ago, because I played exclusively the Hardpont Domination lobby up until it died and I was horrible at Attrition. So, if I had been forced to switch completely from all Hardpoint Domination to all Attrition, I probably would have hated it and stopped playing completely. Instead, the Mutliplayer Campaign allowed me to enjoy almost 50% of my games in Hardpoint Domination and be forced to slowly work on my Attrition skills in between to the point where I am now pretty good at Attrition as well. I don't think it can be understated though how important it was and is to this day that the Multiplayer Campaign extended the life of the Hardpoint Domination mode.

Also, to point out an area where this is far superior to how something is handled in TF2, are the 24/7 lobbies. When they add a new map and have an "Angel City 24/7", "Colony 24/7" or "Relic 24/7" lobby, to me, the way these are done is total and complete garbage, because they do not preset the pattern. If it went like this it would be fine:

    Bounty Hunt
    Attrition
    Amped Hardpoint
    Bounty Hunt
    Attrition
    Amped Hardpoint
    Bounty Hunt
    Attrition
    Amped Hardpoint

If I only really wanted to enjoy Amped Hardoint on the new map, I would know I could enjoy it every 3rd game, or 3 out of 9 games.

Instead, it is completely random and weighted to what they want to force feed you, so it is usually like this:

    Bounty Hunt
    Bounty Hunt
    Bounty Hunt
    Attrition
    Bounty Hunt
    Bounty Hunt
    Bounty Hunt
    Attrition
Amped Hardpoint (maybe, but probably not, probably just Bounty Hunt again)

    That is total garbage!

Yeah, I agree. It was and still is my favorite video game of all time. And you can probably get it for about $10 (which includes 24 large, well designed maps). Can't beat that.

respawn really missed a huge opportunity to make the game feel more space-like by adjusting gravity for each planet. It makes zero sense that it would be the same for each level unless its the same planet. For me, this really ruins the story line and I could give a crap about the campaign.

You do make a really good point that I never thought about. It would be nice have different gravity on different planets, where those with less gravity would allow your jetpack to launch you further.

Interesting idea about gravity. I am happy either way. They should focus on first things first and concentrate on new maps and Titan options. The Monarch concept was a refreshing date. I am happy with TF2 if for no other reason than I can still loose myself for hours just as easily as withTF1. It is all about escape from reality...Haha.
